The following interview has been conducted through Zoom The scene opens up as many sit down interviews with The Backyard Phenom El Diablo Blanco do with a split screen. On one side is the always investigative Abi Rose. On the other is a slightly disheveled El Diablo Blanco. Eyes a little red and sleepy looking, El D welcomes us to another edition of his sit down interview. El Diablo Blanco: Hello to all you Brothers and Sisters out there in the Diablo Nation and hello to you Miss Rose. I’m happy to be back here again with you. Again, I do apologize for our last interaction and how it concluded. I promise I will be on my best behavior, Sister.Abi Rose: No need to apologize, El D. I got out of hand a little bit myself. Thank you for joining us today. As everyone is aware by now, every other week I sit down with the Backyard Phenom himself to discuss his sudden rise in the world of professional wrestling after carrying on such a lengthy “career” as a backyard wrestler. Before we begin, however, I must ask, is everything okay? You don’t quite seem like yourself today.El Diablo Blanco: Oh, don’t worry about me, Sister. My eldest Little Diablito, bless her soul, was up most of last night with the sniffles so I spent the night in a twin sized bed. Needless to say, I didn’t get much sleep and my back is a wreck today.Abi Rose: I’m sorry to hear that about your daughter and about your body.El Diablo Blanco: It comes with age, Sister. Once you reach a point, those bones don’t quite react the way they used to. I’ll heal though. Gonna do some Yoga for Real Guys… and Gals later and freshen up. As for the Little Diablita, she’ll be okay. Hopefully sooner rather than later as I plan on taking the familia to Wisconsin Dells this Saturday before jetting off together to Denver for Mile High Spectacular III.Abi Rose: How is it that you are staying on top of the work/life balance?El Diablo Blanco: Typically, I just don’t sleep, Sister. But this generally helps too.El Diablo Blanco reaches out of the view of the camera and comes back with a container of Ghost Lifestyle Green Apple flavored Pre-Workout. He opens the canister and pulls a scoop of the powder out. Looking around for a second for a glass of water, instead El D dry scoops the pre-workout into his mouth and muscles it down. El Diablo Blanco: There you go, Sister. Give that about three to four minutes and I’ll be back to my normal jovial self ranting and raving about discovering what the fox says. Diggit?Abi Rose: I can dig it, El D. I know you have a busy weekend ahead of you so I am going to just jump right in. The last time we were discussing your story you had gone to get training at GOAT Farm Wrestling. It wasn’t long after that when you were able to sign your first contract. Walk us through that.El Diablo Blanco: Well, Sister. There were certainly conflicting reports about what all went down over the course of that time. I put out feelers wherever I could. I mean, if you had a twitter I was reaching out to see where I could find work, Sister. I wasn’t aiming for the stars. I just wanted enhancement work to get some true ring time under my belt. There were two companies that bit and I was presented with two contracts. One with Blood and Nations Promotion and the other with EPIC. While I technically signed with Blood and Nations first, my initial matches took place with EPIC.Abi Rose: I believe most of Mile High Wrestling is aware of Blood and Nations which aired on the SE Network; much like MHW did for quite some time. EPIC, however, tell us more about that.El Diablo Blanco: Let me tell you something, Sister. EPIC was going to be this start up promotion. They had some capital, they were able to get a streaming deal with Amazon Prime so I knew they were legit. I talked with the head honcho and basically pleaded with him. I clasped my manos together and I said, “Please, Mr. Booker Man. I need to feed my family. I’ll do the job to anyone and everyone as long as you can provide me with a stable income.”Abi Rose: And he obliged?El Diablo Blanco: That’s the kicker there, Sister. He took one look at me, saw some promotional work I threw together online and he said NO. No, I will not hire you to do enhancement work. I see bigger and better things in your future. I’m going to make you a star. Now, this is wrestling, Sister. I may have been new to the pro level but I knew a thing or two about slimy promoters around the loop that’ll give you a hand shake with one hand while they stab you in the back with the other. Not the case here, though, Sister. No ma’am, no way. He kept it on the up and up much in the same vein as Robert Mack. Mr. Booker Man gave me an opportunity, a chance to face many a talent. Drake Conners, Graham Baker, RISA, even a one-off gauntlet match that featured former MHW talent Jansen Myrrh. We didn’t get to mix it up but I was able to be put in there with some of the best talent of that time and learn on the fly. It was detrimental to learning, Sister.Abi Rose: I’m sure it was. It’s my understanding that in your time with EPIC while it was open you were a two-time Violence Champion as well as the last World Champion the promotion had, is that correct?El Diablo Blanco: Yes, indeedy. I credit EPIC as being the launching point in my career. It provided me with the foundation I needed to make a name in this industry, Sister. It was also because of my time in EPIC that I was able to quit my nine to five and dedicate my time solely to wrestling.Abi Rose: Yes, tell us more about that. When we last left off you were working a full time job in order to provide for your family all while training three times a week and eventually adding in weekly shows.El Diablo Blanco: Sister, like a phoenix flying through the sky, on one episode of EPIC I set myself on fire and hit the Feeling Froggy Splash.Abi Rose: How fitting. Soaring like a phoenix and now you’re the current MHW Phoenix Champion.El Diablo Blanco: You got it, Sister. You see, when I lit myself on fire, the gif…jif…gif… whatever. When that clip went online, Sister, it caught the attention of a lot of people. I’m not just talking about the pro wrestling crowd. That episode garnered so many eyes that Taco Bell reached out to sign me on as a corporate sponsor. Can you believe that, Sister?Abi Rose: I’ve seen you peddle burritos online but never knew where that came from.El Diablo Blanco: I was signed to a major contract; at least what I thought was a major contract at the time. Listen, Sister, I was just trying to take care of my familia. They come before anything else in this world and I’ll do anything to make sure they are taken care of. I locked myself into a contract with Taco Bell in which I would promote their new Flaming Diablo Burrito. El Diablo, I lit myself on fire, get it, Sister?Abi Rose: I’m following.El Diablo Blanco: I got paid a good sum of money, they bought me my beloved Chrysler Pacifica that I love to this day, they took care of me. I didn’t read the fine print all that way because of my excitement though. I was fine making the special appearances. I love going out and entertaining the masses, Sister. What I didn’t know was that a representative of Taco Bell would be at every show limiting me on what I could and could not do. I was the Violence Champion. They signed me because I lit myself on fire and gained the attention of so many people. Now, because I was a corporate sponsor I couldn’t do anything like that as champion? WASSUP WIT DAT?!Abi Rose: That’s quite the predicament.El Diablo Blanco: It was torture, Sister. I was miserable. I was riding a high whenever I got in the ring but the moment I was limited everything just kind of took a turn. Thankfully, I made a couple of friends in EPIC. Drake Conners hooked me up with a lawyer friend and we combed through that contract with a fine toothed comb.Abi Rose: What happened?El Diablo Blanco: Apparently, the Taco Bell representative was taking matters into his own hands and the company was unaware of his limitations. Even though they took care of the situation I was none too pleased with how things were handled. Drake Conners’s lawyer found a loophole where as long as I made a set number of appearances my contract would be deemed fulfilled. Sister, I showed up at every Tom, Dick and Jane Taco Bell I could find and had the managers sign off on my dates. It truly was a good day at that last Taco Bell in Centralia, Pennsylvania.Abi Rose: Wait, I know that city. Isn’t that like a population of 10 people because of the underground coal fire?El Diablo Blanco: The one and the same, Sister, and that was my last stop for that contract.Abi Rose: That’s commitment. But I do have to ask, without the Taco Bell revenue coming in, did you have to go back to working full time.El Diablo Blanco: Good ol El D has been known to be pretty darn thrifty, Sister. The money gained from Taco Bell was enough to get us into a somewhat comfortable situation. Nothing over the top but not struggling. Believe me, the real money came in because of the Roth Invitational Tournament but that’s a story for another time.Abi Rose: We’ve recently heard that the Roth Invitational Tournament is about to have its second installment coming up but before then you are scheduled to defend the MHW Phoenix Title this Sunday at Mile High Spectacular III against the inaugural Phoenix Champion, Alex “Bullet” Carbajal. Now, leading up to this match, there were changes afoot. It went from one on one to three-way back to one on one. Does this change hinder your preparation going into the match?El Diablo Blanco: I’m not going to lie to you, Sister. When they first announced that I would be defending that MHW Phoenix Title against Miss Carbajal at Mile High Spectacular III I knew I would be able to check another box off the list of competitors I came to MHW looking to fight. Very few people have done the things that Bullet has done here. There’s a reason she’s a hall of famer around these parts, Sister. The temporary addition of Stephanie Sullivan to the mix definitely spiced things up and after the way she and her goons forced their hands on Talia Areano and myself after our triple threat match I welcomed a chance at redemption. Thankfully, Katrina Mack is just about ready to put the scandalous one in her place which returns my bout with Bullet to its regularly scheduled program.Abi Rose: There are some that go as far as to say that this match has show stealing potential.El Diablo Blanco: I never look at it that way, Sister. I just want to go out there and give the best performance I got on any given day. If it ends up being the match of the show that’s only an added addition. I respect Bullet to the umpteenth degree, Sister. I look forward to this match whether we had the addition of Stephanie Sullivan or not. Preparing for it is the same way I prepare for any match. I must learn to be faster, higher and stronger. That’s what the Olympics has taught us, no? Not just to be faster, higher and stronger than each other but faster, higher, stronger than what we believe our own potential to be.Abi Rose: That is certainly one way to look at things.El Diablo Blanco: Let me tell you something, Sister. I just got done telling you how Taco Bell ended up screwing me over and kept me from my true potential, verdad?Abi Rose: That you did.El Diablo Blanco: From that day forth, I knew I had but one mindset I could work off of. Never limit myself. Always keep pushing the limits no matter if I think they’ve been pushed to the breaking point. I’ve already said I respect the heck out of Miss Carbajal and I get the feeling that she respects me too but this isn’t going to be some love fest, Sister. True, they do say Love is a Battlefield but when I get inside that squared circle, Sister, I’m out there not just to get by. I’m in there to thrive.Abi Rose: No one would fault you for going the extra mile.El Diablo Blanco: I Diggit, Sister. I’m not doing this just for me. I’m doing this for the entirety of the Diablo Nation. Take a look here, Sister. I’m the Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Champion. I’m not supposed to be here. I’m someone’s husband. I’m someone’s father. I stand a whopping five foot nine and a half inches on a good day and weigh two hundred forty five pounds when I cut back on the carbs. That weight isn’t attributed to muscle mass. Just take a look at that video I posted over on efedder. That kettlebell was only 15 pounds, Sister. I don’t have the body for this. I don’t have the physique but no one and I mean no one can match my heart, Sister. It’s not just about going into Mile High Spectacular III to beat Bullet for myself. It’s to prove that anyone out there, if they never give up, if they put forth the work and overcome obstacles, if they persevere when they feel like giving up, they too can become a champion.Abi Rose: Inspiring words.El Diablo Blanco: I’m telling you now, Sister. Don’t stop believin’ in good ol El D just yet. I was born to be wild. When times get tough and you’re told to go your own way, I’ve got more than a feeling that all that’s going to do is start me up, Sister. With all due respect to Bullet, if you think you’re going to walk out of Mile High Spectacular III, you can dream on, Sister. All you have to do is spend a day in the life of El D to know that you’re going to have to kill me to take that strap off me, Sister. I know you watched my match against Bandit when I won this belt. I know you and I went toe to toe two weeks ago in that eight man tag but you ain’t seen nothing yet, Sister. I’m ready to rock and roll all nite so this Sunday at Mile High Spectacular III Live on Splat you better be ready to walk this way. I know we’re both under pressure but the Diablo Nation will rock you, Sister, to the point where you feel like you’re free fallin’ out into nothing. I know you’re the first ever MHW Phoenix Champion and you’d love nothing more than to get this belt around your waist once again but you can’t always get what you want. When all is said and done this Sunday night I’m going to be filled with that sweet, sweet emotion and as I look out upon the crowd I know we won’t be hearing the sound of silence, Sister. When they told me that I would be defending the MHW Phoenix Title against you I was ready to jump at the opportunity to face you. For what it’s worth, I’m looking forward to our match not just because I am going head to head with one of the all time greats but also because I know, no matter what, I am going to be walking away from this match a little older, a little wiser and just that much better at this sport we do so love than when I walked in. Diggit?!Abi Rose: I think we all dig that enthusiasm and it is abundantly clear that pre-workout has hit your system. El D, I love our sit downs together but it’s time once again to say goodbye. Until next time, I’m Abi Rose and this has been another week of entering the world of El Diablo Blanco. We’ll see you all this Sunday at Mile High Spectacular III.El Diablo Blanco throws up his rock and roll hand gesture as the interview comes to a close.

Off-Camera
Friday, July 23, 2021 Church Room Shieldmaidens Clubhouse New Orleans, Louisiana 8:01 AM CDT
Another morning with a meeting would be bad enough but the fact it was this meeting on this morning for this reason made it even worse. Shieldmaidens President Alex “Bullet” Crbajal, Vice President Angelieque “Angel” LeRoux and Full Patch Jackie “Bandit” Layton sit down with Club IT Crew, “The Twins,” Tanya “Crash” Christensen and Danya “Burn” Christensen to try and go over what all happened that week and what could be done about it.
The incident had occurred on Wednesday, not far from the Bras d’Or.
The consequences hadn’t finished kicking in until Thursday.
Now, it would be time to look through everything.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Thank you for coming. What do we know?
Bandit sighs heavily.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: Jackson came for a sit down with us at Bras d’Or. Killer, Tori, Mox and I talked with him and then he left. Two blocks up the street, Bear and Pepper could still see him from where they were by the door and saw the guy shoot into his car.
Angel shakes her head.
Angelique "Angel" LeRoux: He was within eyeshot of the club still?
Bandit shrugs.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: At least from where Bear and Pepper were. They’re usually on walkies by the back door but they were sort of in between the front door and that alley, making rounds with Rig, working their way to Biscuit and Lobo while Deuce watched the cameras.
She pauses.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: Trying to remember where Saint was, I know he was there too cause they always start their sweeps early.
Bullet nods slowly.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: So Bear and Pepper saw the shooter?
Bandit shrugs apologetically.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: They saw a flash of black and then a flash of boom and recognized it was Jackson’s car cause they’d just watched him leave.
Angel shakes her head.
Angelique "Angel" LeRoux: But they didn’t get a good look because it was up two blocks and the guy didn’t jump all the way out into the street, right?
Bandit nods.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: Right.
Bullet sighs.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Mierda... She nods again to Bandit and then turns to the Twins.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: What do we have?
Crash and Burn both nod quickly.
Tanya "Crash" Christensen: At first, we thought, we were going to have nothing. The guy darted in, squeezed off a couple of shots and then ran out and made sure it was in a blind spot for the cameras right there like he knew where the cameras were.
Bullet shakes her head.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Professional…
Burn nods.
Danya "Burn" Christensen: Yeah, we thought so too because we went over that footage frame by frame and it was almost like a sixth sense. The guy just knew where he needed to be to not get flagged. He was clearly going for the car, so this was no random druggie looking to cop. He popped Jackson and then hauled ass out of there.
Angel shakes her head in disappointment.
Angelique "Angel" LeRoux: So we’ve got nothing…
Bullet frowns.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: You say… at first…
Crash nods.
Tanya "Crash" Christensen: We found another camera and then Nikki found another one.
Burn smirks.
Danya "Burn" Christensen: She had one in Jackson’s car. Between that and the ATM across the street, we got a good look at the dude.
They shoot messages to Bullet, Angel and Bandit’s phones. The three look and open the messages.
Tanya "Crash" Christensen: His name is Eric Solomon.
Bandit stares at the screen in disbelief.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: That can’t be right, he’s local?
The Twins both nod in unison.
Tanya "Crash" Christensen: Local as fuck.
Angel looks up the picture and shakes her head.
Angelique "Angel" LeRoux: He seems like… a sub…
Burn nods pointedly.
Danya "Burn" Christensen: We’re pretty sure he is.
Bullet sits back in her chair and stares across the table.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: So, he’s not really a professional. He’s a hopeful and probably got this job because he knows the area.
Angel just shakes her head.
Angelique "Angel" LeRoux: Why would you pick either one of those for this? Isn’t that the first rule of buying something like this? No in town shit?
Bandit nods knowingly.
Jackie "Bandit" Layton: In town shooters means in town cops, in town heat, in town trouble. Like it’s been said, you don’t pay the ho to fuck you, you pay her to leave after.
Bullet shakes her head.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Do we know if he’s still in town?
Crash shakes her head.
Tanya "Crash" Christensen: He’s been laying low, we haven’t spotted him anywhere else even using facial recognition.
Danya "Burn" Christensen: All we know is he hasn’t gone to the busses, trains or airport.
Bullet nods slowly.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: So his odds lower unless he is a noted mariner. You would have caught him on major roads leaving town?
Crash nods.
Tanya "Crash" Christensen: Yeah, we would have.
Suddenly, a phone chimes and Burn looks down.
Danya "Burn" Christensen: Oh shit, bless you, Girl! Nikki found him! And…
She looks at the address.
Danya "Burn" Christensen: You’re putting me on… he’s in Belle Chasse, like five minutes from the Barn!
Bullet nods.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Then we let him remain there. Allow him to continue to think he will get away because many of us are going to Denver this weekend to work out aggression and get paid for privilege.
She turns to Angel.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: When we leave, you coordinate with Spectre and see about gaining his presence for a talk.
Angel nods and Bullet looks around the table.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: We tell no one until we have him. ¿Entiendes?
Angel, Bandit and the Twins nod.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: If this is exactly what we think it is, no mistakes. And we save him for Killer but we do not tell Tori or Jenni. They do not need to be dirtied by this. ¿Entiendes?
Again, Angel, Bandit and the Twins nod in response.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Bueno… now we start taking back!
She stands up and the others follow her.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Te amo, Angel…
Angel nods.
Angelique "Angel" LeRoux: I love you too, you take care of your business, I’ll take care of this.
Bullet smiles.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Let us do this!
On-Camera
Saturday, July 24, 2021 Warehouse Gym Shieldmaidens Clubhouse New Orleans, Louisiana 10:09 AM CDT
The camera opens on Alex “Bullet” Carbajal walking through the door to the gym in her usual ensemble of black tactical boots, black tactical pants, black Overkill “The Grinding Wheel” t-shirt, black fingerless gloves and her Shieldmaidens kutte. She glances off to the right and then steps into the center of the shot.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Mile High Spectacular 3 and I come back to where I started with the Phoenix Championship.
She smiles, almost laughing at herself.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I won that championship in a ladder match against my fellow Shieldmaiden in what turned out to be her initiation to the Maidens. Sam came into that match as an up and coming star and I came into it a no name rookie.
Her smile deepens.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: That match made us both Shieldmaidens. It made us both names in this company and in this sport. It made me a champion and it set Sam up to be one not long after that. Fighting for the Phoenix Championship set me on a path…
She nods to herself more than anything else at the memories.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I went that entire run of the company without losing it. I even fought the World Champion in a champion vs champion challenge match and I won, hanging one of the few L’s that man has ever seen in this company. I went through whoever they put in front of me and I smashed them down. The championship flew high with me and burned through the night sky like it was meant to be the brightest light anyone had ever seen. The first time Robert Mack had to close up shop, I was still the Phoenix Champion and I had made it a sought after prize! The championship and I went hand in hand as I made it, it made me.
She steps over to a chair and sits down on it.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I was still Phoenix Champion when the first Mile High Spectacular happened. I faced Azurine Vebbins for the right to challenge for the World Championship. It marked the company’s rebirth, it’s very own phoenix moment of being reborn from its own ashes. No one thought the company would return but it did and there I was against Azurine with a chance to fly still higher.
She smiles and nods her head in acknowledgement.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: And I won.
The smile fades away as she leans forward while remaining seated on the chair.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: By the time the second Mile High Spectacular came around, it had only been three months, but everything had changed.
She squeezes her hands together.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The show before I was to challenge for the World Championship, I defended and lost the Phoenix Championship to Tyke Index.
She swallows hard as the gravity of that loss seems to hit her at once.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: He took the bird to the top of Coke Mountain and it never really came back.
She nods to herself but doesn’t look up.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I was unsuccessful in my own pursuit of the World Championship and on that second Spectacular, Tyke put the Phoenix up against the World.
She shakes her head sadly.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The Phoenix had looked shabby going into that match and it went out completely after it. It never flew again before Robert Mack closed Mile High and said the company was, itself, dead again.
She looks up and nods to the camera before falling forward and landing on her knees, looking almost as if she is about to pray.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: ¡Perdóname! Forgive me, oh Firebird, I failed you and let your light be extinguished by the machinations of a fiending addict intent on self destruction as much as anything else! I did not mean to fail you like that!
She looks to the camera and nods.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: But now Robert Mack has given me the chance for the redemption I was to be denied for this failure!
Her hands separate and she looks to the heavens.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Mile High Wrestling has risen again from its own ashes and with it the Phoenix Championship! The Firebird flies and now it sings its beautiful song again!
Reaching up, Bullet nods to the sky.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: And I have been given the opportunity to step into the ring with El Diablo Blanco for the Phoenix Championship… I have been given the chance to fly again!
Her hands pull into fists.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I have been given the chance to erase the ghost of the fire being drowned in the snow and let it burn brightly through the sky again!
Bullet stands up to her feet.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I walk in there against El Diablo Blanco and I am bringing the fuel to allow the fire to blaze like it did once before!
She looks to the camera as if she sees the glory of something holy there.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: No longer will the Phoenix be drenched in whiskey and have its neck stepped on face down in the snow atop the peak of Coke Mountain! The memory will be removed and it will go with its prodigal daughter! I will carry it high into the air on wings made of feathers, wax and string and go until they melt from my back!
Her hands go out as if reaching for the skies again.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The Phoenix Championship will be the brightest light in the night sky again and I will make sure it gets there no matter what I must do to achieve this! Bring me your hellfire, El Diablo and let us see how bright it can be!
