Pellegrini HouseNew Orleans, LATuesday, July 27th, 2021OFF-Camera We open in the living room of the home of Wendy and Lexa Pellegrini. A standard type of space. A sectional couch along two walls, a loveseat adjacent to that. A large flat-screen television mounted to the wall, with an entertainment unit under it with a smattering of the usual electronics - a Blu-ray player, a surround sound system, a base for a Nintendo Switch, a row of movies along the bottom. The furniture is soft and comfortable, a coffee table that would have been among the furniture had been moved, as the newest member of The Purge, Una Quinn, was holding court. On one end of the sectional laid Wendy “Zombie” Pellegrini, tired from her workout, a cold compress on her still-tender face. Beside her, sitting on the ground, was her son J who has not left Wendy’s side throughout her ordeal. Katrina “Hairicin” Knox sat at the other end, along with her wife Aoife “Banshee” Maguire-Knox. On the loveseat sat Wendy’s wife, Lexa Pellegrini, who wanted in on this meeting as well. A meeting Una called. Una Quinn: “ Okay, so I’ve been doing some research on the team, and the dynamics within it, and honestly I have no idea what Eavan was thinking, but obviously things weren’t working the way they should have been.” Hairicin: “ Give her some respect, aye? For someone who was never much of a team player, lass has come a long way to get to where she got to. A fine Shieldmaiden, she showed Wendy and I a few things, we were tag team champions in WWA…” Una Quinn: “ And where is she now, hmm? Exactly. I have all the respect in the world for her, but I know the Code of not throwing one of your own under the bus. Last I checked, I’m not a Shieldmaiden so I call it as I see it. And that’s another thing we’ll be touching on tonight. Eavan got you noticed, sure, but I’m here to make you legends.” Lexa clears her throat and Una turns around to face her. Lexa: “ What did yous have in mind?” Una shakes a finger at Lexa and smiles. Una Quinn: “ See? This I like. Cut the BS, get to the point. Wendy, you used to be a monster on a mic. A monster in the ring. Hell, you’re a Hall of Famer now. That monster has to come back again. Where’s that woman who won the ThrowDown Title from Jansen Myrrh? The Zombie who, in her debut match, buried Tyke Index alive?” Zombie sits up and tries to speak but can only mumble and growl before almost breaking out in a coughing fit. She rolls her eyes and pulls her phone out and sends a text to Una. Una looks at her phone and nods. Una Quinn: “ I get that your family is important, Wendy. I mean, we’re here, and so are they. And you guys are awesome people and I’ve enjoyed your hospitality, but the people don’t care about that. Your opponents don’t care about that. I spoke to your boss, Robert Mack? Not exactly Dad of the Year as well from what I’ve seen of the guy. Here at home, they’re your priority. In front of the camera, at the arena, in the ring? The three of us are your family, we clear?” Zombie nods, before Una turns to Hairicin. Una Quinn: “ Katrina, you’re built like a Goddess, and you have a very sweet and pleasant speaking voice, and that’s a problem. We’re going to stop pandering to the fans. You guys are Shieldmaidens, not Sunday school teachers. Look at your other sisters. Bruiser, who eliminated you last week. Killer who you beat for your Hardcore Title. Bandit, who’s practically shorter than me. Bullet. What do you think they have that I think you’re lacking?” Before anyone can answer, J shoots his hand up. Una laughs and looks down to the floor-sitting child. Una Quinn: “ Yes?” J: “ An edge. I watch my aunts’ matches, and watch the way they sell themselves and their matches, and they have a coolness factor. Like you want to watch them.” Wendy scruffs up J’s hair and smiles at him, before nodding. Wendy sends another text to Una. Una Quinn: “ You’re absolutely right, Mr. J. You guys aren’t cool. You’re like the B Team when it comes to the Shieldmaidens and I know you’re better than that. So, here’s how we’re going to change things. First, I’m going to be doing most of the talking. All you two have to do is be fierce. This way, when either of you speak up, the words will mean more. They’ll captivate people. We onboard with this so far?” Everyone in the room nods, and Una puts her hands together in acknowledgement and nods with them. Una Quinn: “ Good. This is a good start. Okay, next is music. Skillet is a decent band and all, and Lexa, the fact you look strikingly like Jen ledger is incredible… but I found a song that I think suits what we’re about a lot better. Have you guys ever heard of Five Finger Death Punch?” Everybody nods affirmatively. Hairicin: “ Aye, I have all their albums.” Una Quinn: “ I’m in the process of getting the rights to use Mama’s Gonna Knock You Out.” Zombie ponders this for a minute and gives two thumbs up. Hairicin couldn’t help herself and claps. Aoife leans into her and laughs. Banshee: “ Aye, it bae a lon’ time since I bae saein’ ya do tha!’” Everyone looks over at Hairicin, who is now blushing. Hairicin: “ What? I always wanted to come out to one of their songs.” J gets up and gives Hairicin a hug and kisses her cheek. J: “ You’re funny, Aunt Kat. ZomMom, are you going to be ok? I have to go do my chores and check in on Aunt Val’s cat.” Wendy nods and J runs back and gives her a hug, and a gentle kiss on her bandages, before giving Lexa a hug and kiss as well as he leaves. Lexa looks over to watch him for a couple of minutes, shaking her head. Lexa: “ You know he thinks his kisses are healing your face, right?” Wendy smiles and sheds a tear, and nods slowly. Wendy croaks out the words ‘my Carebear’ before wincing in pain. Una sighs. Una Quinn: “ I envy you guys. Kat, um, I have a question but I don’t know how to broach the subject…” Hairicin: “ Ask away.” Una tries to start, but instead pulls out her phone and shows the screen to Hairicin. Katrina chuckles. Una Quinn: “ It’s not so much what I found, it was you calling Meizumi a thirst trap last week or so…” Hairicin shakes her head and closes her eyes. Hairicin: “ That was taken out of context. I just felt like she was… no, I guess you’re right. As for that, yeah, I had a career in adult films before Eef and wrestling came along. I don’t regret it, it paid the bills, and yes it’s all over the internet. I get recognized more now for what I do in the ring than what I did in front of the cameras. I work hard for the body I have, and I like to show it off, but I also do more than just that. Meizumi, I felt at the time, did not. That was the point I was trying to make, and I will admit perhaps that was an oversight on my part.” Una Quinn: “ Oversights we can’t afford anymore. For your upcoming match, we’re going to research her better, review the Battle Royal match, and get you more prepared to defend that title.” Hairicin: “ Alright, we can look over that tomorrow. I’ve already started getting stuff together.” Una Quinn: “ I’ll admit, I sprung the new logo on you guys on social media, personally I think it looks awesome, and has that urban decay element I was looking for. Circling back to the no pandering to the fans thing. We don’t want to be what we think the fans want, we’re going to be true to ourselves and make them want US. I want the people in the crowd, the people watching at home, even the people on the roster when they see who they’re booked against to go ‘Oh shit, it’s the Purge’, not ‘Oh great, it’s The Purge’. That make sense?” Hairicin: “ That combination of respect and gravitas.” Una Quinn: “ Exactly. I don’t care if people cheer us or boo us, we’ll still be the same. Show up, kick ass, go home. I want them to react, I want that pop. I want our opponents to be afraid of us. I want the people to feel that when we arrive, somebody’s getting hurt. I’ve heard the stories of what you’ve done with your sisters. Show Mile High that. That’s all I ask. You two do the dirty work, I provide the heat. Are you in?” Zombie sits up and puts her fist out towards Hairicin. Hairicin puts her fist out to join Zombie’s. Una puts her fist out to the other two and the three nod. Una Quinn: “ Now let’s talk strategy…” Undisclosed Location New Orleans, LA Friday, July 30th, 2021 ON-Camera A dark room, a naked lightbulb swaying overhead providing the only light in the room. A masked Katrina Knox stands in riot gear, arms crossed, her MHW Hardcore Title over her shoulder. Una Quinn paces back and forth, dressed in an all-black outfit with leather jacket. Her pink hair flowing freely as she stares down the camera. “Meizumi Kirigawa, allow us to properly welcome you to Mile High Wrestling. The last time you and my client, Hairicin, crossed paths, mistakes were made. Opportunities were seized, and here you are one match away from being a Hardcore Champion. There’s… just one small problem with that. You see, the Hardcore Championship sits right here…”Una points back to Hairicin, who has not moved. “...in the possession of the Shieldmaidens’ Hurricane. A trained fighter in her own right. You see, unlike the last time the two of you crossed paths, we have looked over your career, short as it has been thus far. We watched your one and only fight at Global Combat against Geri Vayden, a fairly short affair in which you came up short. We watched your debut triple threat match you had at Ammo. A match you won, but really against one opponent that has seen better days and the other who has never really gotten out of the starting blocks here in Mile High Wrestling. At Mile High Spectacular Three, the first time the two of you were in the ring together, and I will give you a nod of respect here because we FINALLY got to see what you can do. A total of seven eliminations between the two of you out of twelve participants, very impressive. However, I could also counter that had there not been the miscue by Bruiser in eliminating my client, the ending could have, and would have, been different. You’re forgiven, Becca. This time.”Una stretches her neck as she continues pacing. Hairicin gives a subtle nod to her sister but has been overall motionless throughout all of this. “And now here you are, getting the match you wanted, but are you sure you’ve thought this out, Meizumi? I CAN call you Meizumi, yes? Of course I can, I just did twice. How far do you think your Aikido and Muay Thai will take you when you have to go one on one with a striking suplex machine? You can kick, that’s obvious, but can you kick with only one leg? No legs? Now THAT would be an impressive feat. But we don’t have to out-strike you to beat you, do we? Of course not. You see, you rely on too little. You’re too narrow in your fighting style, and you also have something… I believe the scouts at Globat Combat called it a glass chin. Which, for the uninitiated, means that you can dish it out, but get through the defenses, and you crumble into powder. Hairicin here can break your defenses. You can take her down, but she will take you out before either of you hit the mat. You’re giving up six inches and a solid forty to fifty pounds of size, strength and speed coming into this match. So, again I ask. Are you sure you’ve thought this out?”Una Quinn nods and shakes a finger at the screen. “Of course you have, because or at least you’ll convince the people you have. You’ve had trainers and your dear old father to show you the ropes. Hairicin? I mean you HAVE heard of the Shieldmaidens, right? There are legions of them. They train together, they spar with one another, no punches pulled. Name a fighting style, guaranteed one of them knows it and has shown the others. So, believe me when I tell you the Hardcore Championship is staying EXACTLY where it is until WE decide it’s time for bigger and better. And we will when the time is right. At Throwdown, Thirst Trap, yes I am calling you that, what are you going to do? Use MY picture I posted on social media asking sarcastically about being a thot and why anyone would do it? Sit down. Thing is, at ThrowDown, your fairytale run ends before it truly begins. This match is less a title defense and more a point to be made. And the point is The Purge are the three you DON’T want to cross in Mile High Wrestling. Hairicin is undefeated in singles action, and has the title to prove it. Kate Steele tried, and failed. In tag team matches, Hairicin has not been pinned or made to submit either. She bested three other superstars to become the Mile High Wrestling Hardcore Champion. Really, if you look at Hairicin’s career here in Mile High, the ONLY people who have yet to best her have been… fellow Shieldmaidens. You, Meizumi Kirigawa, do not appear to be a Shieldmaiden.”Una smirks as she cocks her head. “You’re just another player of the game. A game you have no business being in. You want to focus on MMA, call Dana White. HERE, we hurt people for a living. We don’t just climb the ranks, we ARE the rank and file. It’s not the lack of size you have, Meizumi, it's the lack of experience. It's a lack of ring awareness. It’s a lack of knowledge.Your father may have told you stories of this business, but until you’ve calloused your back taking thousands of bumps, ran those ropes until you’ve puked and still kept going, you are out of your league, and out of your mind if you think you can unseat the greatest champion in modern history.Have you ever felt the collision of inanimate objects hitting flesh at high velocities? Have you ever experienced the snap of cold steel on warm flesh just before it leaves marks that burn from sweat? Have you ever experienced the crack of a kendo stick across your extremities, your gut? Of course not, you’ve never trained for that. Hairicin has, and she gets off on it. Keep on beating her and she smiles back, begging for more. All the while waiting for that one split second when she can unleash and leave an opponent, at this next ThrowDown that will be you, broken and bloodied. THAT is not something you train for. That is earned, developed, evolved. And YOU, Meizumi, do not and will not ever get that.”Hairicin puts a hand on Una’s shoulder and moves her aside, before readjusting her title on her shoulder. Through loud breaths from her mask, she finally addresses her opponent directly. “The cleansing… starts… with you.”

27th July, 2021 15:16 PM CST St. Paul, Minnesota Meizumi’s Residence Off-Camera
"So .. double checking. You do have that secured in your hands, right?” “Correct. So where is your room?” ”That’s exactly why I’m asking. It’s upstairs..” A slightly irked groan elicits from Eikichi’s lips as he peaks around the Mile High Cup - which he is helping Miezumi carry - and stares right into his daughter’s eyes. “You know the relationship between my back and stairs.” Meizumi was only able to offer an apologetic, if not sheepish, grin and shrug. ”I wasn’t expecting to find myself working at a second fighting company, and I certainly wasn’t expecting to be in a royale for a cup like this.” “Fine,” Eikichi replied, taking a deep breath. “At least tell me there aren’t too many.” ”Thankfully, there aren’t.” “Good. That’ll make up for it.” After a cautious trip up about fifteen to sixteen steps, they moved down the hall for a bit. Finally, Meizumi used her foot to push the door leading to her bedroom over. Without missing a beat, Eikichi hastily nodded towards her desk. Meizumi shook her head as she pointed up to several shelves already adorning the wall. ”This wasn’t what I originally got them for, but … ready? Ichi, ni … san!” Both groaned and panted as they hoisted the cup up … and managed to place it upon the shelf. Eikichi merely pointed back at her bed. Even without asking, she understood what he wanted and gave him a smile and affirmative nod. “Thank you,” he replied, sighing in relief as he plopped backwards onto Meizumi’s bed. “Good. I’m glad to feel you picked a nice, soft mattress without my help. Truthfully, you’ve done very well for yourself. I’m not gonna deny I was a bit worried when you moved out. You’re a lot like your mother which … isn’t bad. But you’re a kind woman, and women like you can be taken advantage of, even more so in this line of work. And don’t get me started on all the hate crimes against people like us, and …” But when he saw his daughter nod and raise her hand, Eikichi stopped. ”Trust me. The last part, especially, has been a concern since I moved here. I just .. haven’t allowed it to dominate me because …” Meizumi shrugged. ”What kind of life would that be? To live in a constant state of fear and despair? I wouldn’t want that.” “Fair enough. Remind me though; why did you choose a house this huge? You’re just here by yourself …” ”For now, yes.” As Eikichi rose an eyebrow, she swiftly started explaining. ”Well … I mean … I don’t intend to remain single all of my life. You didn’t think that, did you?” “No. With that being said, you haven’t found anyone behind my back or consummated your potential future marriage, have you?” As Meizumi shook her head from side to side, he nodded, flashing her a proud smile. He then turns his head and gazes at the trophy. At least two, if not three, minutes tick by before he glances back towards Meizumi. “So .. when you told Miss Rose you wanted the Phoenix Championship, that made sense. But I was honestly a bit taken aback when I heard you include the Hardcore one also. Like I said, you’re usually kind. You don’t typically resort to extreme measures, even when you fight. So what made you want this?” His hands tucked underneath his jaw as Eikichi waited. Thankfully, the pause wouldn’t last long before Meizumi offered her father the answer that popped into her head. ”I may have gotten to the second round against Geri-san, but that didn’t even last a whole minute. Then the fact she won by a total knockout? That really was embarrassing in its own rights. When I told Abi I wanted the Hardcore title, I realized how low my threshold for pain is. I need to strengthen it somehow and …” Eikichi’s arms were crossed over his chest. “I can hear where this is going, and I don’t like it. Meizumi, once you go down these types of paths, you can’t just walk away from them. You understand that, right?” His eyebrow rose as Meizumi almost immediately nodded. “You’re sure?” He got the same answer, but still wasn’t convinced. Without any real warning, he turned around so his back was facing Meizumi, then tugged his shirt off. Meizumi’s hand covered her mouth as she found herself staring at a plethora of scars across her father’s back. ”What … happened?” “Weapons. Some barbed wire, some kendo sticks, a few sledgehammer hints can be found on my arms and legs, and that’s just what I’m remembering off the top of my head.” As he pulled his shirt back on, Meizumi stayed quiet, now at least better understanding his reason for hesitating. ”But .. I mean … not all of my matches are going to be singles. My debut wasn’t. No one went for weapons, but they would have been legal if anyone chose to use them. I can’t …” By the time Eikichi turned around, he saw Meizumi tightly clenching her fists. ”I don’t wanna come off as a coward! I don’t book my own matches, after all! So … if I’m put in yet another match where weapons are permitted, I have to be ready to take those types of risks!” “So you truly want to go through with this fight against Knox-san?” The card for the next episode of Mile High had come out not too long after the pay-per-view ended, so she knew what he was talking about. Her first ever title match … and it would indeed be for the Mile High Hardcore Title. She swallowed nervously but still offered a firm nod to her father. “Very well. Does this place have a gym or anywhere that could work as one, if not a dojo, in it?” A wide smile immediately spread across her face. ”Actually, yes. I requested help with having a dojo built into one of the rooms.” Eikichi patted Meizumi’s back, wearing his own content smile on his face. “Perfect. I’ll leave so you can get dressed and show me where it is. If you’re that serious, then you need to be prepared.” ”Of course! I’ll be there in three, if not sooner!” Sure enough, the moment Eikichi left and closed her door, she began quickly stripping, feeling an adrenaline rush beginning to flow through her veins and body.
6th August, 2021 24:10 AM MST Denver, Colorado Rock Park On-Camera
As the camera turns on, we see a silhouette sitting atop one of the highest parts of Rock Park. As the camera adjusts and gets a bit of aid in the form of a phone turning on, we see it is indeed Meizumi Kirigawa herself. She offers a light wave before beginning to speak. ”It’s probably obvious enough, but sleep has been a bit difficult to find the past few days. I’m not gonna pretend I’m not anxious. That’d be stupid. My third match in Mile High … and I’ve been deemed worthy enough to get one of the things I wanted; a shot at the Hardcore Title. Even before listening to Knox’s promo, I’ve heard the doubts in my head. Is the rookie crazy? What can she do against the current champion, let alone a Shieldmaiden?”
“And the answer to those questions … well ....” Meizumi smiles knowingly. ”I’m sure a lot of people thought similar things, and likely some others I’m not immediately voicing, when Mile High Spectacular 3 rolled around. And frankly, I’m going to say the display was even more impressive. Not because I won, no, because there ended up being surprise entrants. What I was certain would be a seven person royale nearly doubled and ended up consisting of twelve whole people to go through. And yet … you know how it played out, Haircin. It’s exactly because of this that I’m just …” Her head shakes. ”Even after seeing that, you still talk me down? Nande?” Meizumi’s eyebrows furrow as she crosses her arms over her chest. ”I would say it’s because all of the Shieldmaidens have a similar attitude like you, but I know that isn’t true. Bruiser was woman enough to apologize to me, and there are others among you that don’t seem like people who are quick to pull back on the ‘judgment’ trigger. So what is it separating you? Is it as simple as there’s some ‘black sheep’ among the Shieldmaidens?” Her head lifts as she looks up towards the sky. ”It ultimately isn’t going to matter. It’d make understanding you easier, but then again …” Meizumi looks back towards the camera. ”I don’t need to understand you. I need to beat you, and that’s exactly what I’m going for. You’ve already made it easy enough by repeating things I already know. Seriously, you don’t think I realize I’m by far the lesser experienced wrestler between you? That was as much of a ‘no shit’ moment as Azurine pointing out in my GCC profile that my wrestling is ‘weak’. Guess what, though?”
“I’m fighting for Mile High Wrestling, also. And last I checked, we are going to fight for Mile High, not GCC. My “stats” don’t transfer, especially when I’m constantly working and busting my ass off. There’s a reason you haven’t seen me working my ‘thirst trap’ job much as of late. Or being on social media, really.” Meizumi pauses as she swipes her phone open. After a few moments, we hear La Vie’s “Freedom” start up. ”You may not care about what I’m going to say, but I think it holds enough relevance. Hell, I expect you to laugh when it’s all said and done. But that’s okay. You have the right to voice your thoughts and opinions, but I likewise have that same right. Now then … what I’m positive no one here knows … is where this song comes from. It was the third opening to the anime Yu-gi-oh: 5Ds. Yes, the same card game of the same name.” She lets a temporary pause linger in the air before continuing. ”Like I said, you’ll either know what I’m talking about and probably laugh your ass off or … you won’t know. Either way, it’s not the anime necessarily that matters, it’s one of the primary themes centering around it. And that literally is freedom. There are two distinct locations in Yu-gi-oh: 5Ds. You have the slums area, known better as The Satellite and then you have the area with wealthy CEOs, corrupt cops, or just more financially well-off individuals than those in The Satellite. That is known as Domino City or even its nickname, The Tops.”
“And frankly? You give me the aura of someone hailing from The Tops. With how much you talk down and such, you act exactly like any and everyone from there did.” Her eyes narrow again. ”It’s honestly a bit … no, scratch that. It’s very insulting. The only reason I got mouthy with you at all … was precisely because of the THOT nonsense you first spouted. And I still stand by my earlier thoughts; you don’t get to judge me without doing so to yourself. I otherwise would have been completely respectful to you and Bruiser had neither of you said something ridiculous to me. Unfortunately for you, I’m not a doormat for you to walk over. When push comes to shove, I will stand up for myself; verbally, physically, or both.”
“But as of late … there’s something else I can’t help but notice. And, almost ironically, it comes with one of your own. I thought The Shieldmaidens were a large unit. I know I’ve seen and heard quite a few talk about the others as being sisters despite few people having any actual blood links to one another.”
“So what’s with the way you’ve been talking Eavan down? Is she no longer a ‘sister’ because she failed to beat Leah, so you’ve tossed her aside because she’s ‘shamed’ you or something?” Her fists clench angrily. ”You really have no shame, do you?! Do you know what I would have given to have even a bit of what you have?! Sisters like anyone in the Maidens?! Or any type of bond like that, really?! My father is literally all I have. I love him and all - no, not in a perverted way before you jump to that stupid assumption. But to have friends, people that even feel or act even remotely like a sibling?” Meizumi shakes her head. ”I never had anything like that. At all. So to see the way you are … that’s as disgusting as your constant talking down of me. It has never once escaped me that you have a lot of advantages over me, including height and weight. But excuse me if I’m not worried about that. Your very own Titaness has shown repeatedly that those are factors which can easily be made effortless. In fact, she did on the most recent episode of Rampage in the EWC.”
“Why was I watching that, you may be wondering? Simple. The company’s been an intriguing one, so I’ve been watching it every now and again. The fact they were in Japan helped. But you know what else I saw?” Meizumi’s grin returns as she nods towards the camera. ”I saw you … when you accompanied Bandit and Psycho out to the ring when they fought their match. Granted, jet lag can be easily overcome, yes … but you’ll still have some all the same. But, you’re right. It won’t be jet lag that contributes the most to why I’ll win.” Meizumi presses a hand against her heart. ”It’s because I have this … the heart and soul of a champion. And when I win, I’m not going to do the same tactics you are. I’ll do what my father did when he was his own champion; I’ll welcome any and all challengers. No one should be talked down … particularly when you used to be a rookie once upon a time ago. No, I don’t know exactly how long ago that was, but the fact is, you had your own square one. I do know this though; as far as Mile High goes, you're a first year here. You weren't in the first or second seasons unlike some of your sisters. And I’m just as certain you’ve had your own share of losses prior to Mile High Spectacular 3. So for you to have this ‘superiority complex’ out on full display …” Meizumi shakes her head. ”That is going to be your biggest downfall. Contrary to what you may believe, I did not just throw darts at a board when telling Miss Rose which titles I wanted. I had thought about that answer even before joining the company. So you can assume I’m walking blindly into this, but you’ll soon see that’s not at all how this is going to play out.” Finally, Meizumi stands up, smirking slightly. ”Come Sunday, I’ll give you a hint on how the first few major arcs in Yu-gi-oh: 5Ds ended. It involves the Tops and people within it proverbially crashing and burning, and you wanna know why? Because they did the same thing you did; they looked down on anyone hailing from The Satellite, swearing to themselves that those people would never be a threat. By the time they realized their error, it was far too late. See you soon, Haircin.” After saying her farewell, the camera fades.
