We open up inside Madison Square Garden where this Sunday Splat presents MHW Throwdown Episode 38. With the Mile High Wrestling Tour underway, El Diablo Blanco has arrived early to MSG for promotional work for the company. Dressed in his signature Zubaz shorts, he is ready to talk with his long time interviewer, Abi Rose.
Ariana Bentley: Ladies and gentlemen, Tis I, Ariana Bentley here and the famous Madison Square Garden and we are going to have a very special interview with the number one contender to the MHW Phoenix Title, The Backyard Phenom, El Diablo Blanco.
El Diablo Blanco just looks at Ariana Bentley confused. He covers her microphone with one hand but the audio is still lightly picked up.
El Diablo Blanco: Where’s Abi Rose?
Ariana Bentley: Her services are needed elsewhere today. So, El Diablo Blanco, everyone has been asking, what are your comments about Game Over and Jansen Myrrh seeming refusal to have anything to do with you.
El Diablo Blanco appears almost dejected before drawing in a breath and putting himself into game mode.
El Diablo Blanco: Everywhere I go, everyone has been asking me, “Whatcha gonna do, Brother? Whatcha gonna do about that Jansen Myrrh. She interjected herself into your Ultimate Championship match at Game Over and single handedly cost you the strap, Brother. Tell me, Whatcha gonna do?” To that, I don’t quite have an answer for that, Brother. My mind has been reeling and there’s no doubt it will be addressed in due time. I’d love nothing more than to meet Jansen Myrrh in that ring but unlike what Bob Barker believes, The Price is Not Right with Ms. Myrrh. For now, the only thing to focus on is the fact that I had my shot at the MHW Ultimate Title and I came up short. I didn’t win the title. It is a sore spot and it’s time to move on.
Ariana Bentley: Speaking of sore spot, you also had to contend with the likes of Second City Riot Squad who sent you for a ride down a flight of stairs at Game Over.
El Diablo Blanco: Listen, Sister, I’m not fielding questions right now about Game Over. It’s true I offered a congratulatory handshake to Mr. Coffey on his Tag Team Title win. I got my posterior handed to me for doing so and later in the night he and Ms. Diaz got involved. Again, I’m just trying to look towards the future and what lies ahead of me, Sister.
Ariana Bentley: Last weekend kicked off the Good Time tour, a tour which included you teaming with Azurine Vebbins. How was your time spent teaming with Ms. Vebbins.
El Diablo Blanco: It was a breath of fresh air, Sister. It was a bit cathartic after everything that went down. Up until this point, Sister, I’d been face to face with some truly scaring figures. Killer Carter, Bandit in a ladder match, Mad Dog, Skrabal Stanzas, The War Queen Leah Aguero. Teaming up with Ms. Vebbins lightened the atmospheric pressure around us. Can you Diggit?!
Ariana Bentley: I can’t say I follow.
El Diablo Blanco: Ms. Vebbins is a bubble of positivity inside and out of the ring. It’s downright infectious so it’s hard to be down in the dumps with someone like that by your side.
Ariana Bentley: Suffice to say, you had a Good Time on the Good Time Tour?
El Diablo Blanco: I see what you did there, Sister. That’s a good one. El D loves a wholesome joke like that.
Ariana Bentley: But if we’re truly looking ahead, we’ll be looking at this weekend’s Throwdown 38 in which you get your rematch against Alex “Bullet” Carbajal for the MHW Phoenix Championship. Now, while we know that everyone has a “rematch clause” in their contract, the timing of this title shot no doubt aligns with hushing you over the incident at Game Over. Is it not?
El Diablo Blanco: Let me tell you something, Sister. Good Ol El D don’t take payoffs. Good Ol El D don’t take bribes. I didn’t ask for the rematch for the Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Championship to take place this week. Emily Mack actually threw me off guard with that announcement but what she informed me of was she wanted the new era under her control to be kicked off in a big way. I mean, take a look at the card, Sister. You’ve got the second round of the Rise of the Phoenix Tournament. You’ve got a steel cage match for the Tag Team Titles. You’ve got a LAST MAN STANDING match between Skrabz and Gabriel Ohio.
Ariana Bentley: Then there’s the hush money match of Bullet versus El Diablo Blanco for the Phoenix Title.
El Diablo Blanco: When’s Abi coming back to this role, Sister. I don’t dislike you but, much like Ms. Vebbins, Ms. Rose brings some positivity to the environment.
Ariana Bentley: The powers that be felt maybe the two of you were getting to be too close and her professional demeanor was put to the test at Game Over. For now, you will dealing with me, Mr. Blanco.
El Diablo Blanco: You can call me, El D.
Ariana Bentley: Mr. Blanco, the last time you were in the ring with Bullet and you put your then Phoenix Championship on the line, you, much like many others, felt Dios Es Una Bala and were defeated. With that loss looming over your head, how do you mentally prepare for a match such as this?
El Diablo Blanco: Look, Sister. This is a big match for me. Many people will sit there and say the Phoenix Title is second tier to the Ultimate Championship but I see them as equals, Sister. My match this Sunday at Throwdown rivals that of my shot at the Ultimate Title at Game Over. But I’ve got to ask you this, Sister. If you had one shot, one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted, in one moment would you capture it or just let it slip? This is my chance, Sister. I’ve been the MHW Phoenix Champion before. It felt great to hold that belt but I let it slip right on by at Mile High Spectacular III to Ms. Carbajal. She was the better athlete that night. So now, looking into this match, my palms are sweaty. My knees are weak. Just thinking of it, my arms grow heavy.
Ariana Bentley begins looking at El D inquisically as if she’s heard these words before.
El Diablo Blanco: On the surface I may look calm and ready but I’m nervous. Just look. There’s vomit on my sweater already.
Ariana Bentley: Are you quoting Eminem?
El Diablo Blanco: Who? Those little round guys that try to capture Santa every year.
Ariana Bentley: No! What? I’m talking about Marshall Mathers.
El Diablo Blanco: Oh, right. I love him. Did you see Eight Mile? Man, he’s a good actor.
Ariana Bentley just rolls her eyes at El D and continues on.
Ariana Bentley: Anyways, you were initially saying how much a shot at the Phoenix Title meant to you.
El Diablo Blanco: For sure, Sister. I’d love nothing more than to carry one of the tent pole titles to represent Mile High Wrestling. It isn’t just to call myself a champion. Believe me, Sister, that would be great but it ain’t just about that. It’s about representing Mile High Wrestling with honor and pride. You know my services are employed elsewhere tambien. It would be an honor to carry MHW on my shoulder when I show up at Pro Wrestling Valor or One Wrestle Movement. Diggit?!
Ariana Bentley: Again, I don’t follow with that statement? What do you want me to dig?
El Diablo Blanco: Doesn’t matter, Sister. All you got to know is this. This Sunday at Throwdown I get my elusive rematch against Bullet of the Shieldmaidens and I’m not going to let this opportunity slip through my fingers. No way, no how. Our first encounter was built out of respect. This time around, Good Ol El D is looking to prove something. I’m looking to prove that I didn’t become the number one contender to the Ultimate Title by a fluke. I’m looking to prove that I didn’t become the Phoenix Champion the first go round by a fluke. I’m coming off some heavy losses to the War Queen Leah Aguero and Skrabal Stanzas. I got to prove I am not a fluke. I’m not just livin on a prayer, Sister. When Bullet and I do this one more time at Madison Square Garden this Sunday, we’re going to send each other round and round, Sister. I wanna rock the Garden off its socks. I may have been once bitten by the Bullet, Sister, but I’m not shy this go round.
El Diablo’s gaze no longer focuses on Ariana beside him but rather straight at the camera, as if he’s staring right at his opponent at Throwdown.
El Diablo Blanco: Here I go again, Sister. I felt like I was down in the dumps when I came up short for the Ultimate Title but my redemption shot at the Phoenix Championship has kickstart my heart, Sister. I remember you from our first foray but this time around I’m ready to rock you like a hurricane. I know you’re proud to call yourself a two-time MHW Phoenix Champion and you do so for good reason but you’re going to be headed for a heartbreak if you think I’m not going to jump at the chance to get that belt back around my waist thus making myself a two-time MHW Phoenix Champ, Sister. I’m ready for nothing but a good time, Sister.
Ariana Bentley: Here we go.
El Diablo Blanco: Here we go indeed, Sister. El Diablo Blanco is set out to prove himself to the Bullet. He’s going to prove himself to Mr. Mack that he didn’t make a mistake putting Good Ol El D on the poster for Game Over. He’s going to prove to the Diablo Nation from the Cow Palace to Madison Square Garden that El Diablo Blanco has the fortitude to make it here in Mile High Wrestling and that he’s no joke, Sister. Now, Bullet, I know you’re out to prove something all the same, Sister. You’re out to prove that your loss inside the Game Over Penitentiary doesn’t define you as an individual. I fully expect you to bring the full force of your moniker to the fight this Sunday in Madison Square Garden but believe this when I say, bring Dios Es Una Bala. Bring it twice. Bring it thrice. Bring it… I don’t know what four would be but the point is to bring it because it’s going to have to take every fiber of your being to keep me down, Sister. I’m coming for that Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Title not just for me, not just for the Diablo Nation, not just for those Little Diablitas I’ve got sitting at home with Daddy’s poster on the wall. No, this match is for every single person out there that has been beaten down by life. The ones that feel like they have suffered failure after failure with seemingly no win under their belt. This one is for those that need to see on any given night, at any given time, all it takes is three seconds and they too can be a champion. And guess what, Sister? I’m Feeling Froggy? Diggit?!
El Diablo Blanco storms out of the camera view leaving Ariana Bentley standing there by herself.
Ariana Bentley: I guess that is for today. Ladies and gentlemen, we’ll see you this Sunday.
The screen goes to black as Ariana Bentley just throws her hands in the air not knowing what to do next.

Thursday, September 16, 2021 Warehouse Gym Shieldmaidens Clubhouse New Orleans, Louisiana 3:09 PM CDT
It had taken the better part of a week to clean up the debris and really get to inspect everything at the Shieldmaidens Clubhouse. The outdoor picnic pavilion had been effectively demolished and all the tables had been thrown about with it. The buildings themselves that were the actual clubhouses for the Shieldmaidens and Chrome Dragons as well as Venom Ink and Twisted Steel Garage had managed to com through relatively unscathed but a broken window in the rear if the gym where a piece of picnic table had managed to turn itself into a spear and crash through the glass like a guided missile hitting a perfectly chosen target.
After having the structures inspected, the window had been repaired and now business was ready to go back to normal.
Or, at least attempt to do so.
To that end, Sheldmaidens President and MHW Phoenix Champion had made a couple of calls to get the gym rolling again. Today, she would be rolling with their usual instructors, the members of the trios team known as Arsenal, Bethany Kenyon, Ashley Kenyon and Jeszika Gautier, along with her younger sister, Gabriela “Taza” Carbajal. In the next room, Kara “Killer” Carter and Jackie “Bandit” Layton were also working with Sgt-At-Arms Essentia “Sangre” Carbajal and Carmen Lucia “Turbo” Leija. Also in the room to get some work training in was Sofia Rojas-Hilton, a young woman who happened to be both the Carbajal Family’s cousin and the wife of Brayden Hilton, twin brother of Brittany Williams and son of Crystal Zdunich. With Bullet watching on with the instructors, from the floor, Sofia and Taza went over some rudimentary stuff in the ring.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: So, what do you think?
Bethany shrugs.
Bethany Kenyon: It’s early to say yet but she definitely has flashes of that attitude…
Bullet nods slowly.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I do not know where that comes from.
Ashley scoffs.
Ashley Kenyon: Yeah you fuckin’ do…
Bethany shrugs and Bullet nods as she takes in the thought from Ashley.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Brayden?
Ashley nods pointedly, knowingly.
Ashley Kenyon: We heard you go on about his mother and you’ve seen the shit the Princess fucking spews on a regular basis. Brayden's been the same damn way. Both twins talk about shit with an unearned entitlement that just makes you wanna punch them the fuck out without mercy or hesitation.
She nods to the ring where Sofia has taza in a side headlock on the mat.
Ashley Kenyon: If she keeps that attitude up, which we’ve seen her exhibit in public a few times now…
Bullet nods as Taza rolls Sofia over and Jeszika slides in to count Sofia’s shoulders down. Sofia and Taza separate and Sofia sits up, visibly disgusted with herself. She slaps the mat, shaking her head.
Sofia Rojas-Hilton: ¡Hijueputa! El malparido…
Bullet nods.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Sofia…
Sofia sits back, looking stunned now instead of really angry anymore.
Sofia Rojas-Hilton: Why can I not do this like Brayden and Brittany? I should be able to… I… I have to… I have to keep the name up…
Ashley throws her hands up and starts to spin around.
Ashley Kenyon: Oh for fuck sake, REALLY?
Bethany raises a hand to slow her sister down.
Bethany Kenyon: Ash…
Ashley waves slightly and nods in acknowledgement. Bullet nods to Sofia.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: You are doing well, Pequeña. Remember, you gave birth two months ago. Before that you were an accounting student at university. Brittany has been a professional for some years now and Brayden is a natural athlete who has been competing for years as well. That you are picking this up at all is a good indication but you cannot give in to that kind of entitlement.
She pauses and nods to her own sister.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Taza has had three matches as a professional. She cannot wait to get back into the ring again but she does not expect she will be immediately on the same level as others here who have more experience. ¿Entiendes?
Sofia looks back and nods, still sitting on the mat.
Sofia Rojas-Hilton: I just… I have to…
Taza shakes her head.
Gabriela "Taza" Carbajal: No, you do not! Was this Brayden’s idea?
Sofia shakes her head frantically.
Sofia Rojas-Hilton: No, I want but…
Taza relaxes slightly.
Gabriela "Taza" Carbajal: Cálmate Coneja… tranquila…
Bullet nods her agreement.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Está bien…
Bullet slides into the ring and moves in closer, taking the younger woman’s face into her hands. She looks her cousin in the eyes and nods sympathetically.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: You have to live up to no one, Coneja. You are you, you are not your esposo. You are not your cuñada. You are not your suegra. You are not your primas. ¿Entiendes?
Sofia just looks abc at her as Taza leans over to nod her agreement.
Gabriela "Taza" Carbajal: Es a verdad…
Bullet nods slightly as she remains engaged in her grip and gaze.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Do not be another of them. Be the first you. There is no other. You are not interchangeable, Coneja. They and we are not you just as you are not them. You are doing wonderful considering the circumstances. I was just like you when I started. It came for me but it did not come in the first week. El Martillo had to drill things into me. I cannot hope to be the teacher he was.
She pauses to point at the members of Arsenal.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: But I did not have three world champions who have wrestled even those inside of Mile High like the Second City Riot Squad to train me.
She nods to her.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: You have them and you have us. You can use us as a springboard to reach heights some of us can only dream of. You must just trust us, trust them and trust yourself. It will come…
She returns her hand to its original position on Sofia’s face.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: ¿Entiendes?
Sofia stares into Bullet’s eyes and then nods affirmatively.
Sofia Rojas-Hilton: Sí, entiendo.
Bullet smiles and hugs Sofia.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: ¡Qué chimba!
As Bullet releases her grip and backs off, Taza leans in.
Gabriela "Taza" Carbajal: ¿Listas para más, sí?
Sofia smiles.
Sofia Rojas-Hilton: Sí.
Taza smiles broadly.
Gabriela "Taza" Carbajal: ¡Berraquísimo!
Taza gets to her feet and extends a hand to Sofia as Bullet slips back out to the floor. Sofia grabs the hand and Taza pulls her to her feet as well.
Bethany Kenyon: Alright then, let’s kick this pig and see what we can do here!
Bullet, Taza and Sofia all nod in unison as Taza and Sofia start again.
On-Camera
Friday, September 17, 2021 Warehouse Gym Shieldmaidens Clubhouse New Orleans, Louisiana 8:09 PM CDT
The camera opens on Alex “Bullet” Carbajal standing by the door of the gym covered in sweat as she takes a shot from a squeeze bottle of water. Wearing a pair of MMA shorts and a sports bra, her hair pulled back into a ponytail, Bullet sits the bottle down on the table currently holding the MHW Phoenix Championship belt off to the right and then steps into the center of the shot.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: So here we go, El D and I gifted the opportunity that the Phoenix Championship has been waiting for since September 15, 2019 at Mile High Spectacular II when after being taken to the top of Coke Mountain, the fire was extinguished for nearly two tears when Tyke dropped it to Skrabz and the championship was not even thought of again until El D and Jack were allowed to strike a match and relight the flame at the Rise in May in the second ladder match.
She looks over to the belt and nods to it reverently.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The fire that had been ignited in such a match was relit when Jack and El D went at it for this championship the same way Sam and I did in the first ladder match that crowned me as the inaugural champion.
She swings her hand across the ceiling, as if seeing it before her.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Now it streaks across the sky, the bright light it should have always been because El D breathed life back into the poor firebird and allowed it to shed all the dead, lifeless feathers and the skin that had been forced on it after trying to survive the overdose wasteland that is Coke Mountain…
Stepping back, Bullet grabs the water bottle again, nodding in shame. She looks up into the camera and nods again.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I freely admit, that was my failure. I allowed Tyke to steal the life from it and from me and there are some who will say that is no exaggeration to say he took the life from me.
She takes another shot from the bottle and then sets it down on the table again.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The first run of this company, I was untouchable. I was considered the malparida de malparidas. I took down everyone I came across including Skrabz himself. I was THE Phoenix Champion and both it and I lit this company up like we were the torch atop the Statue of Liberty lighting the path that all should take!
Her fist rises high into the air as if it is the torch in question before slowly coming back down.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The second run I came back and started strong. I was still champion and I beat Azurine Vebbins to put myself into the main event. I was on top of the world, nothing could faze me. The light was being held aloft for everyone to see...
She looks away.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: And then I let my attention be split and I lost to Tyke and I will admit…
She nods in acknowledgement, still looking away.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: It put me in a malparidez that lasted the rest of that run. The firebird was not the only thing that was not what it had been...
Nodding slowly, Bullet looks at the belt and touches it apologetically.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The firebird had lost its fire and so had I! I could look all around, I could look directly at the torch, I could look up to the sky, see the stars and still not see the light!
Turning abc to the camera, Bullet’s gaze remains affixed to the ground.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: When the company closed for the second time, I admit, I was as lost as the firebird was. Coke Mountain had put a halt to the bird’s flight and dimmed its light. It had also knocked me for a loop that I did not think I would come out of. Skrabz put us both the rest of the way into the darkness…
Slowly her gaze moves back up to the camera.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: First he beat me and then he took the Phoenix Championship from Tyke and it started to drown in the darkness it was not being plunged into. No one spoke of it, no one cared at all for it. It was effectively dormant. The darkness was consuming us both, it seemed.
She shudders at the memory.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: The darkness was cold, but it taught me well. I learned from what happened with Anaquin Adams, Jansen Myrrh, Leah and Reaper. I took many shots and got rocked many times. I watched the firebird go down, watched it crash into the darkness as well and followed it down.
She claps her hands together, looking at them as they come together.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: When the company reopened, the darkness gave way to a new light. The chances were given both to the firebird and to me. In parallel, I flew again after taking the L, just as the bird started to take flight again, rising from the ashes into which it crashed.
Bullet stares at her hands and then shakes her head.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Unlike Skrabz would say, it was not just the L that got to me.
Her gaze moves her hands back to the belt on the table.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Losses happen, it is a fact of life in this sport. Even Skrabz has had to eat a few whether he likes it or not. But this was not just an L.
She shakes her head, her eyes transfixed by the championship before her.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: It was who the L came to and what happened after, the thought that it would never be undone but that both I and the firebird would be undone forever.
Her gaze moves from the championship back to the camera.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: But then I saw hope. I saw the glimmer of a new dawn on the horizon and I saw El Diablo Blanco bring a new fire with him. He hit that fire again and it blazed the trail it was always meant to again!
She reaches up for the torch again.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Gone were the doldrums of Coke Mountain and the Toll Gang and in its place was El D holding that torch high and as I watched the bird fly high again…
Her hands move down and touch her own chest.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I felt the light inside me again, Brother!
Bullet reaches up to the sky with both hands.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I felt the light yearning, begging to be let out again!
She starts to turn in a small circle, still reaching for the sky.
ABC And with that fire raging, I was given the opportunity to go back to where I started. The Phoenix had risen again and now so was I! I took hold of the tail feathers and let it fly me as far as it wanted to go! [/font]
The circle completes and she looks directly into the camera.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: And now, here we stand. El D and myself, with the opportunity to face off in Madison Square Garden, that very Torch that lit the way staring down on us proudly and rooting us on as we fight each other to make sure that fire is burning so brightly that no one can ever miss it again!
She nods, her face becoming a mask of determination.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: It is what the championship deserves. It is what you want to give it but it’s also what I desperately need!
Her right fist crashes into her chest.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: I have lived and died in this company with this championship and I understand now that we made each other and now we get the chance to keep each other going! We come to Madison Square Garden and while this is a Throwdown, it is not just any Throwdown!
Her hand opens and slashes through the air.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: This is the biggest show this company has ever put on. We have never come to the Mecca of the Sports World before and now that we are here, we owe it to ourselves, to each other, to the fans, the company and the championship to prove that we deserve to be here as the co-main event in Madison Square Garden!
She nods emphatically, pointing between herself and the camera.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: You and I, El D, we need this match to be more than just the average match on the average show. We need this match to be the thing that has people talking about still years, decades from now! We need this match to be the kind of milestone that tells the world, Mile High Wrestling is the place to be and the Phoenix Championship is THE force that dares all the talent to come here and compete for its glory! We need this to be the moment we shine the light of the Phoenix Championship onto everyone and show them all that while the Dark Ages were here, we have come out the otherside bigger, faster, stronger, and better than we were!
Her finger stabs down to point to the ground.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: THi is THE show, El D! This is Madison Square Garden and we have to walk together, straight out there through the ashes of what was before and hold that torch to the sky to be the beacon of freedom that calls out to people t stop what they were doing, change the channel and come running because everyone says to them, “Have you seen this? Come and watch Alex “Bullet” Carbajal and El Diablo Blanco fight in Madison Square Garden for the Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Championship and leave every ounce of energy, sweat and blood we have out there!
Her hand swings up and slashes through the air again.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: And when we are done, no one will ever question this championship or this company again!
The camera zooms in tightly on her face.
Alex "Bullet" Carbajal: Let’s shine the light and make Lady Liberty smile again, Brother!
