Ghosts Somewhere, 9/8/21
A small campfire, just big and bright enough to illuminate Ripley sitting on a log near a small tent, burns during the night. Ripley is leaned forward gazing into the flickering flames.
Ripley: I still find it a little hard to believe that just a few days ago I returned to wrestling and won my first match back.
A small smile appears on his face.
Ripley: I mean, it’s not like I was away for years and years but it still feels really good and I find myself checking each morning to make sure it wasn’t a dream.
His smile slowly fades.
Ripley: It wasn’t a dream and it really did happen but, it almost didn’t. I could’ve easily walked away from all of this. Like I’ve said before I’ve accomplished a lot more than I expected and had a pretty damn good career. I almost did walk away but something kept pulling at me. Something that in the back of my mind kept me thinking that I need to get back into the ring. Not just because of pride or wanting to show “I still got it”. I think it was ghosts.
He looks down at the ground for a second then back to the small fire.
Ripley: Most of you are probably saying right now, “ghosts aren’t real”, but they are, they just go by a different name. Memories.
He continues to gaze into the small fire remaining silent for a few seconds.
Ripley: During my first match back not only did the Guvnor and I battle each other we battled our ghosts. For me I was battling the feelings of disappointment from what could’ve been the end of my career. Remembering how along the way I lost focus and started giving into a darkness. Doing things that were destroying myself for no reason really. I think being lost for a bit not knowing if I’d continue fighting in the ring was a blessing in disguise because it allowed me to get away from everything, it allowed me to come to places like this and to...reconnect with myself. I realized over the years I was starting to lose myself and lose my way. I know this might not make sense but it doesn’t have to.
Now as for Guvnor, he did put up a tough fight and I came away with even more respect for him but he lost, in part, to his ghosts. I could see the moments of self doubt creeping in on him and I’m sure he could see it on me as well. All those memories playing out in our minds while we fought. Both of us looking at each other thinking “this is my test” wondering if we had enough to overcome it. I do hope he keeps fighting though. Just because he hit a bump in the road that isn’t a reason to give up. I believe he could have a fantastic comeback and solve his burning questions of “what if?”. I would also love to face him again. For now though Guvnor is in the past and my journey continues moving forward and to a new opponent.
He stretches while still sitting.
Ripley: ”Simply Scandalous” Stephanie Sullivan..
He scratches his chin for a few seconds.
Ripley: Now this is some that’s had an…interesting life. Is interesting the right word? I don’t know. She’s certainly overcome a lot, from what I understand. I expect her to be a challenge like the Guvnor was but just a different type. Tougher? Maybe. I’ll find out once in the ring. Like I said, she’ll be a challenge for sure but will she overcome her ghosts?
He dusts off his pants legs then reaches down to grab a fist full of dirt and sand before standing up.
Ripley: I actually look forward to meeting you in the ring. From what I gather you are a strong individual but I hope you know it’ll take every ounce of your willpower to beat me. When you step in the ring with me it’s not just a physical battle it’s also a mental one. I think you’ll make a strong effort but I am back and on a mission so unfortunately for you you’ll be walking away defeated. I’m ready for this next battle and step on my journey. See you at Ammo.
He tosses the clump of dirt and sand into the fire, extinguishing it, sending everything into darkness.

Stephanie’s Apartment
Things open up from the apartment of Stephanie Sullivan, and it is there where we can see her with her girlfriend Nadja Lindstrom. The Swedish woman wakes up next to her in bed as she looks into the eyes of our Mex-Irish American villainess. Nadja shrugs her shoulders as she looks at Stephanie.
Nadja: So is it finally over with Robert Mack?!
Stephanie runs her hands through the blonde’s hair as she plants a small kiss on her lips. She giggles as she nods her head in agreement.
Stephanie: Yeah… You had nothing to worry about hun. You need to understand that in the wrestling business I will do whatever it takes to further my career. Rob is definitely a hot guy and everything but my heart is with you. Do you honestly think I would try to fuck up what Crystal and Seleana established by setting me up with you?! I definitely wouldn’t do that to you. Plus I love being right where I am. I only used Robert to get what I want. I never expected his stupid cunt of a wife to fuck me over. I shouldn’t have been fired but she was super salty and took things up a notch.
Stephanie shakes her head.
Stephanie: She should have known from the beginning that I was only trying to use her man to gain a title shot. I was using him to further my career and I am willing whatever it takes to get my place in the company. I don’t care if I have to sleep my way to fucking top. I will get there and it’s just the type of business we are part of.
Nadja nods her head as she keeps looking into her girlfriend.
Nadja: I see… I just was worried. We just started dating and…
Stephanie: Look we have done more than just started dating, and I am not one to really betray those who were set up with me. That would be messed up to your cousin and I guess my best friend as well. However now that we got past that and all of that is out of the way it’s time to get back to what I was meant to do. It’s time to further my career and move as high as I possibly can up the wrestling chain. I can’t let people get ahead of me. I have to get what belongs to me. Obviously sleeping my way to the top back fired on me but maybe I should focus on earning this on my own.
Nadja just nods her head as she glances at Stephanie.
Nadja: Ja… I am happy you are back in bed. I like being next to you. Aren’t you worried that things might get weird if your friend Crystal wins this tournament thing?! You came to company to be the best but she comes in and like vulture takes what you try to work so hard for…
Stephanie shrugs her shoulders.
Stephanie: Honestly it’s bullshit but it’s what it’s what I am used too. Since high school she was doing the same shit. I tried to be nice to her when she transferred from her private school and came to public school. I was captain of the cheerleading team. I became her friend. I showed her around, and I did what I could to take the bullies off of her. However she doesn’t show thanks. She leaves the country becomes this hot shot wrestler, marries money, and now feels she’s better than everybody. I will become the focal point of this wrestling company. I refuse to let crystal do what she always does…
Nadja raises her eyes.
Nadja: What’s that supposed to mean… She’s your best friend and someone you consider a sister.
Stephanie: I know but I am sick of it. I personally told her NOT to come to MHW because I knew she would come in and usurp my spot. She promised she would stay in the background and now she is trying to eclipse me again! THAT WON’T HAPPEN!!! I won’t let it happen, and there’s only one thing to do…
Nadja: Don’t tell me you are planning to maybe strike first…
Stephanie: Whatever I do… I hope it doesn’t make things weird for you and your cousin. I know you love working at Zdunich Zoological Gardens with your cousin Seleana but all of this is business. I know how Crystal can get. She’s betrayed your cousin once before and they are married. I know she would throw her daughter Brittany to the wolves if it meant she could get ahead. So in order to prevent what we know what will happen there’s only one choice to be made…
Nadja just lays there nodding her head.
Nadja: I understand… I love you… and whatever you choose I will stay by your side…
Stephanie: Thank you… I love you too…….
On Camera
The cameras come into focus and as they do we are treated to a shot of Stephanie Sullivan in a scantily clad dress. Her bright red lipstick pops out for the camera. She cracks a wicked grin as she begins to speak
“Hello to all of you beautiful people… This is the Scandalous one and it seems like yours truly has the special pleasure of being able to save Ammo. Now I can sit here and try to deny what happened at Game Over. I could perhaps no sell it and be about my business. The reality is I did lose though. I know I lost and it’s whatever to me… I am not going to sit here and complain about the lost though because what happens in that ring is what happens and I respect that!”
Stephanie waves her finger.
“What I will say however is that the bullshit leading into the match is what I have a problem with. I had no idea that everything would backfire for me as much as it has since being in this company. I came into this company as one of the best new faces of this season of wrestling. I became an overnight sensation and I finally made some strides and became something in the company.
I might have had a hiccup but I honestly was doing the damn thing. However the very moment I tried to get involved with the owner is the very moment that things went south for me. I was PULLED out of a Phoenix championship match and forced to face a stupid cunt who couldn’t handle that I was fucking her MAN way better than she could. I was pulled right into the middle of a family feud. Forced to face Gabriel and forced to basically be a pawn in the ongoing back and forth shit between the Macks. One day I am forcing this Gabriel monster and the next minute I am fired, only to be hired back and placed back into the match THAT I was already announced to be in from the beginning. It’s honestly a lot to take in and it’s confusing.
I didn’t sign up for any of that drama and if I wanted family drama I would be right smack dab middle in some Zdunich shit because knowing my best friend drama attracts her wherever she goes. Then again I AM ALREADY in that because of her. So instead of dealing with the Macks it’s time for me to focus on me again and getting to where I need to be. I was better off and I am happy they brought their daughter in to take charge. It might be the breath of fresh air that I needed in order to cope with things.”
Stephanie takes a deep breath as she continues to speak.
“However right now my focus is on facing the returning Ripley and I know everybody is excited about what might be presented in such a match such as this. The truth is I am ready to save Ammo tonight. The world is in for a treat because I am on the brand. I am the woman hide lining and I know that means a lot.
When I look at Ripley though am I honestly supposed to be impressed by who he is?! Yes he should be respected. He is a Hall of Famer and that should mean something. He comes back to the show in which he was the inaugural champion. He has 1 tag team title reign to his name and that sounds good on paper. His entry into the Hall of Fame looks really suspect though. It just seems he got in because he was one of the first champions. His 12-19 record is suspect and I just think he really has the talent needed to beat me. As soon as the bell rings the world will know why I am one of the best new faces in this company.
It’s time to get back to business as usual and time to show the world including Ripley why I shouldn’t be overlooked. On Sunday I will find my place again and it will start with Ripley. See you soon and best of luck. You will need all of it in order to beat a woman who is as fired up as me…”
Stephanie smirks as the camera fades out
