El Diablo Blanco vs Bullet

We open up on Abi Rose entering the InsideOut Gym in Memphis, TN, as she is catching up with El Diablo Blanco along the Good Times Tour in order to speak with him about this upcoming Sunday’s Throwdown. She walks past a series of spinning bikes, nautilus machines and free weights as she looks around for the MHW Phoenix Champion.

Abi Rose: Ladies and gentlemen, it’s Abi Rose on the beaten path here in Memphis, Tennessee reporting to you from the InsideOut Gym. Now, those at Mile High Wrestling didn’t know about this until right about now that I’m here to meet up with my friend and yours, The Backyard Phenom, El Diablo Blanco. That’s right, despite Ariana Bentley taking over one on one interviews with the MHW Phoenix Champion due to my “friendship” with him, I’m here to get the real scoop; not that superficial Q and A.

Abi Rose pushes herself further inside the InsideOut Gym and starts looking around for El Diablo Blanco. Finally, she spots him in the back of the complex finishing off a set of Y-Flys on a TRX System. Seeing her, El D finishes his set and immediately gives Abi Rose a hug.

El Diablo Blanco: I’m sorry, Sister. I know I’ve worked up a sweat but it’s good to see you Miss Rose.

Abi Rose: It’s good to see you too, El D. Unfortunately, my visit here is more business than pleasure. I wanted to get the real inside scoop about what’s going on inside the mind of El D.

El Diablo Blanco: Oh, Sister. It’s always a pleasure when you’re around. I love all my Diablo Nation, Sister.

El D picks up a bottle of water and takes a drink from it.

Abi Rose: Good because we know that this is going to be a big week for The Backyard Phenom. Two weeks ago you pulled off what some are considering an upset. You defeated Alex “Bullet” Carbajal to become a two-time Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Champion. You must be reeling knowing that you are one of only two people to hold that honor; the other being Bullet herself.

El Diablo Blanco: Some would say any match I win is an upset, Sister. With each passing day, the Diablo Nation becomes bigger and stronger but there are still those that don’t believe in good ol El D. They are right though. Take a look at the record books. Going into the last Throwdown I had a record of four and five. That’s a losing effort; lost more than I won, Sister. I became the Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Champion and yet I lost it in my first defense. The nonbelievers have merit in their credence, Sister. There’s a reason why we keep getting reminded that Bullet is arguably the greatest to ever do it. At a twenty and seventeen record going into the match, she has earned that.

Abi Rose: No one is debating that Bullet isn’t one of the best Mile High Wrestling has ever seen but never discount yourself, El D. You won that belt not once but twice. Your matches with Alex Carbajal have been nothing short of epic and everyone has taken notice. That is the reason why this Sunday at Throwdown it is going to be Bullet versus El Diablo Blanco Round III in a thirty minute iron man match.

El Diablo Blanco: Iron person.

Abi Rose: I’m sorry.

El Diablo Blanco: I know the match is being built up as an iron man match, Sister, but I can’t quite dig the name considering there is a woman in the match. We, as a whole, should learn to be more inclusive and I’m requesting that the match be renamed into an iron person match.

Abi Rose: That’s very woke of you, El D.

El Diablo Blanco: You got to understand, Sister. I’ve got two Little Diablitas at home and, if I’ve got one goal in life, it is to teach them to grow up to be strong, powerful, intelligent, multiracial young women. That is why every night I’m at home we read “She Persisted” by Chelsea Clinton, Sister. I want them to know that if anyone ever tells them no, if anyone ever says their voice isn’t important or their dreams are too big, to remember the women in that book. They persisted and so should they. Perhaps that’s why I admire Miss Carbajal so much. She’s paved the path for so many young women today and given them something to look up to. Granted some methods may not be the best but she is a strong Latina. Young girls need to see role models in whatever careers they may choose, just so they can picture themselves doing those jobs someday. You can’t be what you can’t see, Sister. Miss Carbajal has had to overcome adversity every step of the way. Not only is she female but she’s also a minority. The haters have often deemed all of the Shieldmaidens as nothing more than biker lesbians and that’s become a sore subject for so many. Still, Miss Carbajal has set an example and shown the world that she and the rest of the Maidens are so much more. Are they bikers? Yes. Are many of them lesbians? Yes. But, Sister, they are also powerful, brilliant, trendsetting, hardworking, resilient, brave, beautiful, ambitious and spirited women. Sister, I know I’ve got a mountain in front of me this week at Throwdown and it’s because the leader of the pack is gunning to become a three time Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Champion and she’s looking to do so at my expense.

Abi Rose: There’s no doubt you have immense respect for Bullet. It is ever present but I’d like to refer back to the poll that went up on MHW.com. When asked “who’s walking out with the Phoenix Championship?” The results are currently listing you as the favorite to walk out retaining that Phoenix Title.

El Diablo Blanco: It ain’t over until it’s over, Sister. I am forever humbled that the masses are starting to get behind the D Man but let’s be honest for a moment, Sister. Take a look back at the polls for Mile High Spectacular III. The same thing happened. They asked who was walking out with the Phoenix Title. I was the odds on favorite and yet, in the end, I came up empty handed, Sister. That’s why I’m here right now. That’s why I’m at InsideOut Gym located at 2162 Courtland Place right here in Memphis Tennessee. You see, the Good Times tour continues on but there is no time for resting. The Diablo Nation has taken over those message boards because they believe in El D. That, however, isn’t the end all be all say in how this week’s Throwdown goes down, Sister. The Olympics always prided themselves on Citius, Altus Fortius. That’s Faster, Higher, Stronger, Sister. Not just faster, higher, stronger than your opponents but faster, higher, stronger than yourself. Two weeks ago, I was the one more capable of pulling off the win and I’ve got a shiny strap to show for it. This week, however, things are a bit different. Thirty minutes, the most falls wins the contest. I could get one pin and win the entire match. I could pin Miss Carbajal four times in one match and still lose. I’ve got to be faster than I was this morning. I’ve got to be able to jump higher than I did yesterday. I got to be stronger than I was last week. That’s why there’s no day off for the D Man, Sister.

Abi Rose: Strong willed and determined. I like it. We’ve seen pure magic the last two times Bullet and you stepped inside the ring. You both hold a victory over each other with this Sunday being the tie breaker. What can we expect from El Diablo Blanco?

El Diablo Blanco: I let this Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Title out of my grasps once more and it was heartbreaking, Sister. I thought I could mend that heartbreak as I vied for the Ultimate Title but still I felt an emptiness. Winning this Phoenix Title back I feel a sense of completeness, Sister. I’m going to fight. I’m going to keep fighting until I’ve got nothing left in the tank. Let me tell you something, Sister. I try to be everything that I can but sometimes I come out as being nothing. No more, Sister. No more letting that sweet, sweet victory slip through my hands without a fight. I’ve lost to Leah. I’ve lost to Skrabz, I’ve lost to Bullet. I’ve let my Diablo Nation down time and time again but two weeks ago I gave them hope. I brought home the MHW Phoenix Title and I’m about to do something that hasn’t been done yet this season. I’m going to be the first Phoenix Champion to successfully defend the belt, Sister. Miss Carbajal, Bullet, Sister, you already know I have the utmost respect for you and the path you’ve paved. You already know that when the two of us step inside that ring magic happens. You’ve got to come prepared this Sunday, Sister. At Throwdown, during the thirty minute iron person match we’re going to do everything in our power to beat each other to the punch, to outlast the other. It’s going to come down to stamina. It’s going to come down to guts and who can persevere in the face of adversity. Bullet, Sister, to defend this belt and beat you for a second time proving two weeks ago was no fluke is my main priority. This championship means the world to me and I won’t just let it slip through my fingers like I did before, Sister. You’ve already proven that you can beat me but can you outlast me, Sister? Can you match my heart? I preach love and respect but inside that ring we’re all forging a path of our own. For you, it is to become the first and only three time Phoenix Champion. For me, it’s about proving that a Phoenix’s purpose isn’t just to die and be reborn. Chinese mythology speaks of Fenghuang, the Chinese phoenix, in which an immortal bird whose rare appearance is said to be an omen foretelling harmony at the ascent to the throne of a new emperor. You see, Sister, I’m going to take that MHW Phoenix Title and continue to ascend. I’ll continue to rise like a phoenix in the sky showing that the average joe can rise as well. Together we will not just survive but thrive in this world and one day topple the Queen. A new empire will rise. One of respect, honesty and compassion. One Mile High Wrestling can be proud of. Can you diggit?!

Abi Rose: You mentioned how the main event of Throwdown where you defend the MHW Phoenix Title against Bullet is your main priority. Your mind, however, must be in other places as Jansen Myrrh has finally stated that she will make an appearance this Sunday. Will it be to confront you about her interjection into the Game Over main event or does it cross your mind she will make her presence felt as you defend the Phoenix Title?

El Diablo Blanco: At this point I wouldn’t put it past Miss Myrrh that she would involve some sort of chicanery throughout the night, Sister. I called her out. I asked her to meet me in the ring like two upstanding individuals to mend fences. She declined. I offered her money out of my own pocket. She declined. Robert Mack and the fine folks in Mile High Wrestling offered money for her to show up. She declined. I went over to efedder and I begged and pleaded with Miss Myrrh. I even said if I were still Phoenix Champion I would put this title on the line in a match if she would agree to meet me in the ring for a discussion. Still nothing. That is, until a few days ago, when she agreed to appear on Throwdown. I know Miss Myrrh isn’t an official member of the MHW roster but I’m no stranger to the archives, Sister. Before I wrestled for MHW I was a fan. I saw her pull all the strings and put the Coven together week after week. I wouldn’t put it past her to get involved in my match with Bullet. It falls in line with not only her but her family. I’m talking about Cousin. I’m talking about Aunt Candy. I’m talking about Uncle Dandy. Sister, name a time and place and I will meet Miss Myrrh on her standards in order to work this out. It is driving me crazy the blatant disrespect and tomfoolery that is afoot. But, until she steps foot in that ring, I need to keep my focus and my priority on the task at hand; defending the Mile High Wrestling Phoenix Title. Abi Rose, Sister, I know you’re a believer otherwise you wouldn’t have come here without permission from the higher ups. This Sunday night at Throwdown, thirty minute Iron Person Match for the MHW Phoenix Title. Come hell or high water, Bullet is going to have to live up to her moniker and pierce my heart in order to win the match. I challenge anyone in Mile High Wrestling to match my heart, my determination, my willingness to put my body on the line just to get ahead. This Sunday at Throwdown, it’s on like Donkey Kong. Diggit?!

Abi Rose: Diggit I do, Brother. I won’t keep you any longer. It’s clear your sights are set on the road ahead and all things point towards the MHW Phoenix Title. Good luck.
