It’s a dimly lit room but not in a creepy or eerie sense. A large wooden table is illuminated by the faint glow of the overhead lights and six empty chairs can be seen around it. Footsteps on a wooden floor can be heard as the figure of a man walks by the side of the table and heads to the chair at the end.
Man: Oh, what’s that saying? Absence makes the heart grow fonder? Yeah that seems right.
There’s a sudden jarring and scraping sound as the man drags back a large chair and sits in it. He sits down in it and places a fifth of whiskey on the table with a soft thud. A small glass with some ice in it clinks down as well. He pours a small amount then leans back in the chair propping his feet on the table. Resting with the glass in his hand he grins. It’s Ripley.
Ripley: Well how’s it been Mile High Wrestling? Seems the company is back and everyone is excited to sign back on. Myself included. Things certainly have changed since the last show but this return looks promising. Personally I’ve been pretty busy, recently took some time off from the business to build this lovely cabin and reconnect with what’s really important. Learned some stuff about myself I had forgotten and almost feel like a new man.
He takes a sip of whiskey but shakes his head.
Ripley: Nah, not a new man. A recharged man. Reinvigorated. Ready to challenge himself again. Boy, do I have a challenge ahead of me for the MHW return. My former teammate Chris Mosh. Seems he’s gone through some changes and might not be the party boy he used to. Still tough as hell I’m sure. Just that light carefree attitude might be missing. I feel I’m partially to blame since I did betray him last time I saw him. Actually do feel bad about that.
He looks down into his drink then slaps the table.
Ripley: But! No time to live in regret. I look forward to this return and facing Chris in the ring. I’ll bring the fight just like I know he will and maybe we’ll get some closure. Maybe. Well, until it’s show time once again I’ll be waiting. Can’t wait to see the gang back together.
Ripley sits in the dim room sipping his whiskey as the scene fades out.
