The football team was coming into the locker room after a big win and throwing their helmets, high fiving and fist bumping as they begin to undress. Coming in towards the rear was running back, Aaron Blumenthal and as he entered in the rest of the team erupts in cheers as he just grins, shaking his head.
"Big A!" some team members referred to him. He is soaking wet, apparently from a dousing of Gatorade on the field after the game as he immediately pulls off his shirt and tosses into the laundry hamper before walking over to his locker and grabbing his shower stuff and a towel.
"Duuuuuude!" Jerry Cashim was the star quarterback, but tonight he wasn't the star and he didn't mind at all. They won the game and are on their way to the championship in two weeks and that's all that mattered. "That was a great run!" Hands shake as Aaron grins, "It was, wasn't it?"
"I saw Rebecca looking at you. I swear she was creaming her panties," Jerry had the knack for being crude and Aaron just wrinkes his nose up and shrugs. "Yeah, she's been after me for weeks. Well, since she broke up with you."
"I broke up with her, bro. I caught her sending dirty pics to Jerome and I don't have time for that bullshit. Besides, April has been amazing, if you know what I mean." Jerry grins and lifts his eyebrows a few times as if the meaning of his words weren't all that clear. "Besides, Jerome dumped her ass too, so she's fair game. Trust me, I could care less who does her. May as well be you."
"Fuck that. She's not really my type," Aaron responds as he wraps his towel around his waist.
Jerry just shakes his head, "You don't have to marry her, dude. Just fuck her. I mean, she's a free piece and..." Aaron just holds up his hand, "Pass. Hard pass." Aaron grabs his shower basket and is about to head to the shower when Jerry's words stop him in his tracks. "People think you're gay, bro."
As quickly as the words come out of Jerry's mouth, Aaron spins around and slams him up against the wall, dropping is stuff on the floor as he raises a fist as if to punch his friend right in the face, "You better shut the fuck up."
The locker room goes quiet as everyone turns to stare at the confrontation.
"What's going on here?"
Someone is already gathering up Aaron's things off the floor as he slowly steps back from the Quarterback and shakes his head. "Sorry, man." He turns to the coach, "I just overreacted. I'm sorry, Coach. It won't happen again."
Aaron takes his things and heads into the shower as slowly everyone begins to go about their business and Jerry takes a deep breath and looks at the coach and shrugs. "What did I say?"
Two Days Ago
Having just inked the contract with Mile High Wrestling, she was leaving the office when she bumped into Robert Mack. The conversation that ensued literally left her speechless as Erin Blue now found herself debuting on the PPV show, "Rise Again."
She shook his hand and walked around the corner and paused for a moment to take it all in as she leans against the wall. She's going to debut on the PPV. She's never been on a PPV before. She's spent the last five years working independents and training. She figured she'd get a few enhancement matches, hit a few episodes of Mile High Wrestling and then get on a PPV.
She takes a deep breath, holding it in for a very long time before letting it out, "Shit. This is happening." The butterflies were already hitting her.
She needs to hit the gym.
Later that night
Erin has arrived back to her room. She had scheduled her last appearance at an indy show, but she cancelled since it would conflict with her match this weekend and she spent a couple of hours at the gym and met a few fans, took a few pictures and got in her workout. She got cleaned up and threw on a robe. She should probably cut a promo for the match this weekend.
She knew just what to do. She walked over and grabbed her luggage and tossed it on the bed, opening it up.
------------------------
"I suppose throwing me into this match at the last moment might be awkward for those involved and to Raven Trueblood, Ripley and Gabriel Ohio -- I would offer my deepest condolences except that as much notice as you've received that this three way is now a four way, is the same amount of time that I've received."
Erin Blue is walking across Denver's Millennium Bridge as the camera focuses on her.
"Raven Trueblood. I know you've held titles in other promotions. I know you are probably very familiar with Gabriel Ohio. But whatever titles you've held elsewhere, understand that this is Mile High Wrestling. Your reputation will only carry you so far. At some point, you're going to have to get into the ring and prove yourself. I don't plan on letting you get over on my account. I have been working hard to get to this point and I don't plan to let myself -- or my fans down."
She pauses and walks to the railing of the bridge and leans against it. She's dressed very comfortably. T-shirt tucked into the waist of her tight blue jeans with sneakers. It's a warm night in Denver and she is dressed accordingly. Her hair is pulled back into a pony tail as she turns and faces the camera, "Ripley. For as long as I've been following Mile High Wrestling, your tenure here has been less than stellar, I'm not going to lie. Whether it's that you have too many outside ventures going on, or maybe you just lack the passion to be in this business-- it doesn't matter. Perhaps you need to decide if you want to be a TV star or a professional wrestler. If you walk into the ring as a TV star, you're going to be knocked out by a true professional wrestler."
She pushes herself off the wooden railing of the bridge and continues to walk on. "That brings me to the big man himself, Gabriel Ohio. If I were petty, I'd bring up your glass jaw that was on full display on Episode 19. Seriously, if you take me as lightly as you took Maguire -- you'll find yourself on your back in near record time as well. For someone as large as you, I would think you'd dominate but I haven't seen anything from you. As I mentioned to Bloodline, what you did in other companies really doesn't matter. It's what you do in Mile High Wrestling -- that's what matters."
"I encourage the three of you to not take me lightly. Rumors about me be damned because what you may know and what you experience with me in the ring at "Rise Again" will be two different stories.
She steps off the bridge and hails a cab that pulls over to the side of the road. "Trueblood. Ripley. Ohio. My name is Erin Blue and I am called the "Queen of Kings" and at "Rise Again" I am going to show you exactly why when this queen defeats three kings in the ring on a single night, it will be my name on the tip of everyone's tongue. It will be me trending on Twitter and it will be the moment when management realizes they have a true, legitimate star on their hands. And you three? You three will be a footnote on a Wikipedia page about "Rise Again" when all it says is that you three were defeated by the "Queen of Kings" Erin Blue. Until then -- ta ta!"
She climbs into the cab and the cab drives off into the night. Funny enough, the taxi has an advert for "Rise Again" on the back window.

~: …The Bard Calls For Listeners… :~Jack Frost's winter kiss, so delicate yet sharp on the flesh. The twilight of the stars and the glow of the moon. Yes, winter is finally engulfing the land, when I say winter I do not mean the cold weather outside, it is always cold here. Yet here we are. The embers of the Phoenix that is Gabriel Ohio, risen once more from the ashes from which he was last burned. Once again, it’s heart beat can be felt once more as the beast calls to us.
Yes, it calls us, one at a time.
Once the hand of the demon grips your soul there will be no escape. Like zombies, commanded to return to the battle ground by the insanity of the Liche that binds them.
Please settle yourselves down by the fire, let this bard tell you his tale. A tale of wonder, evil and carnage. Put yer young uns to bed for this tale if not to be heard by the ears of the innocent, for there be nightmares be born if they hear but a word of it. For those who dare to listen, I fare thee fair warning, his name will be whispered among the shadows once more. For what do we truly know about Gabriel Ohio?
Who is he? Where does he come from? Why is he here? Just what exactly, are his motives, his intentions?
Only time will tell I suppose. What do we know about him? Let’s look at the tale of the tape.
He stands at just under 7 feet tall. Close to 300 pounds. Cold. Calculating.
Deadly.
Have you figured it out yet? Do you see? For if you dare to listen, let us begin, but be warned, this tale has no happy ending... ~:…An ‘Orderly Queue’…:~The padded walls. The Padded floor. The lights are dim offering merely a glimpse of the figure that stands there. A very tall man, bound in the restraints that offer the orderlies the illusion of safety. He stands there. No movement. The glazed look in his eyes and unresponsive to the penlight that is being shone into them. The doctor shakes his head, adding notes to his clipboard, typical messy doctors handwriting. A commotion from outside distracts the doctor with an angry sigh, he glances passed his patient and witnesses an orderly dragging a female patient, who bellows in despair, begging for mercy. “Will you put her in her room and quieten her down! For fuck sake we don’t want her to awaken everyone else. Let’s try and keep the animals calm in their cages and do your job properly. No more mistakes, I will not cover for you again!”Muttering under his breath, something about not being able to get good help these days, he finishes adding to the medical reports. Twenty minutes pass. He leaves through the padded door. The orderly is walking towards the doctor, a smile on his face. “I love that bitch, once she is on her meds she cannot say no, ass to die for, hot too.”They start walking away down the corridor. “For fuck sake, you better have cleaned her up.”
“Relax doc, no one here to make a fuss, besides, she swallowed the evidence.”The doctor shakes his head. “You sick bastard.”“Hold on there doc, I am not the one who enjoys torturing them with scalpels and whatever else you do, so don’t try and fly with those wings little angel.” “At least tell me you have been giving everyone their meds, the right dosage.”“Yes I have, you getting stressed doc, maybe you should give Molly a visit.”“Fuck you.”“What is the story with this giant fruitcake anyways?”The doctor scratches his chin. “This John Doe turned up on my doorstep, literally like this. He is like a vegetable.” “Oh well who gives a fuck anyways. You watching the wrestling?”“Hell yeah, MHW just relaunched. Its going to be epic. They signed a few familiar names, Tyke Index, Samantha Hamilton, loads more.”Suddenly the power goes out. A few frantic swear words are heard, then very loud screaming… The back up generators kick in and the lights comeback on one by one. The orderly mutters “thank fuck for that!” before turning around. The doctor is gone. “Doc?”The orderly glances up and down the corridor, he notices instantly that the door to the John Doe room is open. He runs. He runs into the room and is met with a gruesome sight. The doctor is in a heap on the floor. The walls are decorated with the crimson red of blood. The orderly screams and turns around. The John Doe grabs him around the throat, lifting him up and pinning him against the wall. He is nose to nose. “You remind me of him…but thank you on giving me what I have been waiting for, my next destination.”The John Doe smiles a wicked smile, the orderly cowers in fear. “The doctor…is in session. Just what is on the agenda today? AAH! Evisceration!”The lights black out again and the screams echo in the hallways. ~:..The Blind Leading The Blind…:~White Noise is on the screen. Eventually the TV turns itself off. Darkness. The eyes struggle to adapt with the lack of a light source. A sense of growing panic alerts the senses and the eyes begin to see...things. A dancing shadow? Silhouttes taunt from the corner of the eye but gaze upon them and they vanish, the mind begins to doubt itself. Did your eyes really see that? Was it your imagination? Let your mind play tricks for just a moment until a voice shatters the silence. Darkness. A flame flickers and Gabriel's face is briefly seen. It darkens again as his maniacal laugh echoes. No fancy scenes for Gabriel but only the honesty of what he truly believes. But rest assured the tale of Gabriel Ohio has only barely begun. Get yourselves comfy, we going to be in for a rough ride. This bards tale is just about to get grim....

July 18th, 4:37 PM
A dart is seen striking into a dartboard with a loud thud.
Ripley: It does feel good. No, it feels great.
The camera zooms out to show the interior of a small bar in the Denver area. Ripley is standing in a back area that has two dart boards hanging on the wall and behind him, sitting at a small table against another wall, is his wife Alice. Not many people occupy the bar and the ones there seem content to focus on their drinks. Ripley aims a dart and after a few seconds gives it a toss and it lands with a thud.
Alice: Winning your match?
Ripley: Yep. I’ll admit I was starting to let that self doubt creep back in but I didn’t let that affect me and I beat Emily. It is interesting what Chris did to her after the match though. He’s really showing his cold hearted side That attack was, something else. Brutal.
Ripley walks up to the board and pulls out three darts. He walks back to Alice and places them in her outstretched hand.
Alice: Yeah but you can’t worry about that. So he attacked Emily. She seemed fine later and probably will get some revenge on him. You need to worry about continuing your winning ways. Just in the ring, not against me.
Ripley: Ha, good one. It’s just a shame he’s committed to being cold hearted now.
Alice: You seriously need to forget about him. He seems to have forgotten about you. Focusing on the next match needs to be your priority.
Ripley sits down at the small table and picks up a glass filled with a dark beer. He takes a sip as he watches Alice aim another dart and then give it a toss.
Ripley: Yeah, you’re probably right.
Alice: Of course I’m right. Also I have a good feeling about your match at Rise Again.
Ripley: Well it’s certainly nice to have your confidence, any specific reason for this good feeling?
She carefully eyes the dart board before giving the dart a toss then turns to face Ripley with a sly grin on her face.
Alice: You have me here.
Ripley: Oh I see. So, you’re my good luck charm?
Alice: Obviously. Think about it, Mile High starts back up and you have a couple matches that...aren’t that great. Then I decided to come up and visit and boom, victory. And yes, you can say I’m your good luck charm.
Ripley: I’m just glad you’re so humble about it.
She gives a slight shrug and grin before turning around and throwing another dart.
Ripley; I’ll say though I have my work cut out for me this time. A triple threat match? A lot of crazy stuff can happen in those.
Alice turns around with a confused look and shakes her head.
Alice: Triple threat? You mean you didn’t check your phone? Oh boy, well you’re in for a surprise because your match has been changed to a fatal four way. Someone named Erin Blue was added. Think she’s making her debut too.
Ripley: Well...that does make things more interesting. Just more people I have to beat now.
Alice: Sounding confident there, good.
Ripley: Definitely. Well, I guess this means I need to squeeze in some extra gym time.
Alice: That might be a smart idea. Also, it looks like I’m not your lucky charm this time. You, uh, lose.
Ripley stops mid sip of his beer to look past Alice and at the darts sticking out of the dartboard. He smiles and shakes his head.
Ripley: One of these days I will beat you.
Alice walks over to the small table with a grin on her face and sits down. She picks up a glass of her own also filled with a dark beer and takes a sip of it.
Alice: Doubtful. Now, I think we should start talking strategy regarding your match at Rise Again. It’s going to be a tough one.
Ripley nods in agreement and they continue drinking their beers and talking as the scene fades to black.
July 20th, 7:32 AM
In a large open field, sitting alone under a large tree, is Ripley. He looks relaxed as he takes a deep breath in then lets it out as a gentle breeze blows.
Ripley: When I started my wrestling career this is something I would do quite often. It didn’t matter what city I was in but I would seek out a place away from people where I could calm my mind and focus on the match ahead. Over the years though I started doing it less and less. It’s a shame really because I’ve found some really unique areas over the years. Plus the victories that came after spending time out in them weren’t so bad. It’s also a shame because as I did it less and less I became out of touch with who I really am. I believe that played a part in how I got so lost and confused during the first run of Mile High Wrestling. How I began slipping into a dark mindset and life. Ah, I probably sound like a hippy.
He chuckles as he watches a small bird swiftly fly by.
Ripley: Anyway, while I spent my time away from wrestling I’ve reconnected with this. I intend to bring back my pre match ritual of seeking out solitude in nature and planning for the battle to come. What a battle it will be too at Rise Again.
He grins.
Ripley: It seems as I am revisiting the beginning of my career one of my opponents this Sunday is actually starting hers. Starting on the big national level that is. I admit when I first heard the news that this match was changed to a fatal four way I was annoyed. I had planned on a triple threat but that just goes to show you life can change in an instant. Plus my annoyance quickly faded once I saw who it was that’s added to this match. Erin Blue, quite an outspoken individual it seems. I actually like that. Full of confidence and ready to set the world on fire. This might surprise some but I actually hope she has a great career here and finds a ton of success. Just after this match. I know she’s looking for a fight and I promise I’ll bring everything I have to this match. I also know that she has questioned my passion for this business. A mistake. I’m willing to show her how mistaken she was too. Sure, I have business in another company as well as Mile High and yes I have a tv show, Silver Lake, which you can only see on the Stanton Network, okay horrible self promoting plug, but I am a wrestler first and foremost. When I started wrestling I had the goal of proving I could be the best. I never backed down from an opponent and never took the easy way out. I’ve been through countless battles and have many scars to show for it. Wouldn’t change a thing. So, I have no problem showing Erin how passionate I am when it comes to being a wrestler when we meet at Rise Again.
Seeming to get emotional Ripley takes in a deep breath then lets it out slowly.
Ripley: Then we have Gabriel Ohio, isn’t he spooky? Seriously though I know that he will be dangerous. If his intentions are to intimidate me though I have to say he has failed. I’m not trying to sound macho or let my ego get in the way it’s just a fact. Since day one I’ve gone up against countless opponents that promised they’d break my body and spirit and bring me pain like I’ve never felt before. They’ve failed. Maybe it’s a character flaw but I tend to take pleasure out of a painful match. Makes me want to prove my opponent wrong even more as they are trying to keep my down. Alice says that’s going to get me killed eventually because I never seem to know when to quit or admit defeat. She might be right. Gabriel I’m ready to take whatever you want to throw at me. I’ve stood in the ring with men and women who claimed to be the most sadistic on this Earth, some who claimed to be demons or the Devil himself. A few actually made me question if they were really telling the truth but I never once gave in to fear or intimidation. Don’t see a reason to start now. So, Gabriel, I’m ready for whatever tortures you have planned for me. I’m not stupid though I know I’m coming out of this match hurting and you’ll probably have a major hand in that but I wonder how you are going to react when you’ve hit me as hard as you can and think I have nothing more to give but I look up at you and...smile.
Ripley looks around the field and takes in another breath of the morning air.
Ripley: Raven Trueblood. Another interesting individual, someone who is no stranger to the wrestling world. I look forward to meeting you in the ring and seeing firsthand what you’re capable of. I doubt you’ll be disappointing and will be a challenge but like Gabriel and Erin, you will be defeated. I’ve been around for quite a while too, probably not as well known as you, so I know not to underestimate anyone. Like you I’ve had a long journey and it is far from over.
He closes his eyes and listens to the wind.
Ripley: At Rise Again I will defeat the tree of you and I will continue to build on my winning ways. I have no problem admitting that I have stumbled here but that just means this company has an incredibly talented roster. The challenge to be the best is very real here. I simply have to increase my dedication to proving I have what it takes to stand at the top. I will make it to the top too. It never matters to me if I’m fighting in the opening match or the main event, I always give everything I have. At Rise Again the three of you will look into my eyes and see the passion that burns deeply in me for this business. Can’t wait to get in the ring with all of you.
He stands up and leans against the tree looking out at the field. End.
